Bodyscan, new damage, etc.

Thul could (and did) just wait for the grapple damage tick and then INSTANTLY re-grapple for the next damage hit. Works even better in choke when people don't writhe out as nicely.
Also, I think that damage didn't scale as much with hps as staff attacks, so it was even deadlier against people with low max hp.

Revan, didn't Fillin at some point explicitly argue pro keeping raise staff's 20% outside of dmp? I thought it was kept that way.

And I wonder where those 40% allround resists come from, unless you got very drunk with amber malt or lich+construct OR something completely mysterious is that good.
Ixion2011-07-23 08:07:44
Probably attune and devout shield, Vey.

I think the last thing Mages needed was tuning, but since we do have it, perhaps it's time to upgrade Warriors.

I think there should be a limit to how far you can tune a damage type, because right now this is a tiny bit of a mess!
Rika2011-07-23 08:12:37
I think tuning should just not exist at all.
Ixion2011-07-23 08:13:13
Yep.

Admin told me that raise staff was DMP, not straight %. It also shows up as non-calculated magic DMP on BODYSCAN BUFFS. Also, the 40 DMP to everything is: devoutshield, attune, kirigami, amberbeer, blackcrypt and taintedspike.

If raise staff was straight 20%, geos would be doing a LOT more damage

Edit: Damage to Alisa with 100% asphyx WITHOUT raise staff (this is with an asphyx tattoo, so my damage increase is 10%) is Iconoclast Alisa n'Kylbar, Matriarch of Despair says, "1107."

Damage WITH raise staff, making the DMP 30, which is roughly about 20% increase total for me... Iconoclast Alisa n'Kylbar, Matriarch of Despair says, "1216.".

As you can see, that's only a 10%-ish increase. Raise staff is not 20%.. it's scaled as DMP, much to my dismay sad.gif

I'm having trouble getting drunk on amber. Drank multiple times and couldn't get my ALL DMP above 5. Does anyone know the approximate scaling for drink:DMP?
Rika2011-07-23 12:46:37
You only need to drink amber once. Use something stronger to get drunk faster. I went from 5 to 15 at decidedly sloshed.

So I need to get drunk AND THEN Amber Beer. Gotcha. This should probably be in the Simple Questions thread, but where can I find a Charm of Clangoru? Can't seem to find any on Jeremiah Jebediah Whatshisname. Also none With Gargle.

Oh nevermind, I was thinking of the clothing artifact.

-I don't know if that will help. The effects are based on your alcohol status, not how much you actually drank. Tolerance does nothing, as far as I know, other than make you have to drink more.

So DRUNK = DMP. What's the tipping point (quite literally) between increased DMP to drunken sloppiness? Wouldn't increased tolerance give you more time to be at a certain level of sobriety/drunk? Also, how does PaleMalt factor into Amber and Dark beer strategies?

CODE
PaleMalt            Creates a high alcohol brew that provides a nice kick!
Master  0%
Amalgamation Cost: Half a percent of power reserves.
Although beer from this malt is sometimes jokingly called Olde Orcish, it is most likely of dwarvish origin. However, dwarven brewmeisters coyly refuse to accept responsibility and only brew this beer during depressed times. This malt is made from sugar and cheap grains. Although the beer is of a pale colour, the alcohol potency is extremely high.

PaleMalt does nothing. It claims to be high in alcohol but it's must better to just drink spirits. I have found that being the slightest bit drunk is annoying. I thought the alcohol tolerance of being a Dwarf and a Brewmeister would make it so I didn't fumble about after drinking two shots of tequila, but I still do. I'm not 100% sure about the tolerances, but I'm pretty sure it's alcohol level, not number of shots drank. That said- every shot (I think it was every. Might have been every other) you take (of tequila, for me) seemed to raise my DMP by just a little. Just drinking the amber gave me 5, a shot put me up to 9... Then I took about 13 shots at once... my DMP was really high but I was in pain so I puked it all up.

I guess I can do some testing later when it's near the end of the month so I can cameo back to my regular self.

Would you be willing to bug if something didn't seem right now that we have BodyScan to review cost/benefit? Other than that, perhaps Brewmeister deserves to be put through Envoy to tweak up those skills.
Enyalida2011-07-23 18:00:47
I thought the prevailing opinion was that the brewmeister things were very powerful on a situational basis but pretty useless to always always use unless your character is specifically built for it, because the side effects of drunkenness are terribly annoying.

For a dwarf who's trans brewmeister that is drunk pretty much all the time logged in, I've found that the "Feeling no pain" stage of drunkeness is the happy medium. Some fumbling, but not a lot, and gives 15 dmp for amber malt/dark malt. Being a bard helps out a lot with the falling down due to springup, and I only get vomitting/blackouts at suicidally intoxicated. But yeah, for a dwarf who's a brewmeister, I'd say "Feeling no pain" as the happy medium, and for people just using amber/dark malt who aren't brewmeisters or dwarves (or dracnari), maybe just a sip of spirits then use both for a little extra boost.

Also, perform sober in Dramatics is very much worth getting.
Esano2011-07-24 13:51:19
Raise staff is DMP, magic runes are flat %. Everything but magic runes should be DMP.

I don't remember if any Researcher stuff got posted yet. I will flex my dmpeen.

This is with Astrology imum coeli (10 dmp to all, available once every 12.5 days or so :<) and Veneration devout shield (also 10 dmp to all), along with whatever spheres were available today.

No tattoos yet, but has everything else available to me afaik.

Note that Nimbus is bugged and is adding to elemental DMP instead of Cosmic DMP for some reason. It's been bugged.
