I never could quite accept the "you only have one shot at this so you better get it right the first time" mentality of the game. No real room for exploration, leveling up, quests for ultimate weapons, etc. That does make it pretty challenging, though, in a way.

Well, it is primarily a strategy game with RPG elements tied in. The inability to level-grind is actually what I love about it, as it makes the game difficult, and I love difficult games.
Of course, I don't find Metroid Other M or Demon's Crest to be very challenging games.
