So, I am thinking, after reading this, about switching to Orchlach or back to Human. Stat wise it seemed like Humans had about the same at around Circle 80 as the Orchlachs do base. In addition, they get a better experience bonus from being Human.

What are the thoughts on that? Does the Pureblade bonus really come into effect enough to justify not being Human over Orchlach? The cure lag on its own is enough to justify by my hand not being an Aslaran.

My approach is both from Hunting and Combat. I would prefer to not switch races again. (Currently Faeling and changing)

Well I am super biased towards orclach because they're awesome. And I miss my orclach smiley.

With an Orclach knight, you'll get a solid constitution, with level 2 regeneration and quite a nice suite of resists. Unlike some other races with that situation, you won't face a balance penalty! (Just a small eq penalty).

On the down side, you will have a terrible mana and ego score, and "orcfluencing" isn't particularly effective. In addition, fire damage will still hurt a great deal, even at demigod, to the point that you'll want to avoid fighting things that use a lot of it. That said, its survivable due to the race being otherwise pretty darn tough. Also, due to your low INT score, your surge won't be anything to write home about, and frequently isn't worth the bother.

Overall, I enjoy the race, and for the most part find it to be quite survivable. The pureblade bonus is just that- bonus. It is nice to have, but it isn't going to make or break you.

The human xp bonus is very nice, and will give you more effective gains as you work towards demigod. It is noticeable, and really, after the race got beaten with the nerf stick a bit ago, the best reason to play the race.

Ultimately, you can make either work well for what you are. If you can't decide, I'd ask youself, "Am I going to ever want to switch to a different archetype?" If the answer is no, Orclach is fine. If you think you might want to switch, well, I'm making an Orclach monk work currently, but even with demi stats and such I wouldn't try it for a bard, guardian/wiccan, or demesne archetype.

Human first, hit titan|demi|whatever-you-feel-like, and then reincarnate into whatever you want. That's usually my meta-advice to people when it comes to racial considerations. o_O

Many many times I find myself bonking my own forehead on the desk because I'm missing out on the extra exp racial bonus that humans get. Which would be super duper nice when combined with harmony blessing/iron membership/kissable lips/monthly exp promotions.

Ebonguard... Faeling... you get every domoth blessing, including Harmony and faster balance.

Don't go Shadowlord; Aslaran have them beat at speed race. Especially pre-Demigod, it's just pointless.

I'd be Aslaran, but my request to get a Faeling hat customized to be a Shadowlord Faeling hat was denied. :(

So I started out as a Human and it was great. Ever increasing stats were cool and the XP bonus was slightly noticeable. I eventually switched to a Faeling and my influencing speed went up...however my abilities in hunting went down and Faelings were barely being chosen for domoths it seems.

I ended up switching to Aslaran and I can not be happier. The only thing I lost out on was the health I once had but there are enough buffs to make up for it. I would say Aslaran out of the three I mentioned works best for me as an Ebonguard PB.
