I distinctly remember illithoid base intelligence being either 15 or 16... now it's 14. What happened? Is there some debuff to illithoid? Or was there a ninja-nerf?

ILLITHOID STATISTICS:
Strength : 11 Dexterity : 15 Constitution: 15
Intelligence: 13 Charisma : 7 Size : 10

ADVANTAGES:
o Can psychially understand any spoken language.
o Regeneration while underground, level 2
o Have a level 2 resistance to psychic damage.
o MINDSENSE: Can sense others in the immediate area.
o Inner Worm: A unique racial ability. All illithoid contain an
inner worm through which they drain the psychic residue from
corpses, artificially inflating their maximum ego. They may
ILLDRAIN corpses to inflate their ego, which deteriorates to
its original levels over time at a rate of 1 max ego per
minute. Their ego may be inflated 50 ego per level of the
illithoid player.

DISADVANTAGES:
o Are susceptible to magic, level 2.

Clearly they were buffed, not nerfed.

The above are the stats for the changes for the Kepheran and Illithoid races as up on the test server, and I'm just curious to ask...is it weird that I find it odd that Illithoid have more health than say..a Krokani or Orclach? Effectively making them just about as health-filled as Loboshigaru and Taurians and yet they're the most dextrous of the races save for Furrikin who have the same but pay for it with a low amount of strength and consitution, or Faelings which have just one more point and suffer even more with a lower amount of health and strength. confused.gif

Also, another point of intelligence/charisma for Trill and another hit of intelligence for Lucidians, plz.

Right, I was totally adding demi +1 and endowment +1 sleep.gif

Illithoid pay for their high bashing ability by being mechanically incapable of influencing effectively. Trust me, I've tried everything to be able to influence, it just isn't feasible.
Raeri2011-09-04 00:43:12
You could hit 14cha as a buffed demi bard illi, I think, which could be workable. But it's more why would you want to influence when you can bash so much better :/
Aison2011-09-04 01:11:21
Illithoid have a huge buff to weakening (or is it paranoia? too lazy to look) influencing. So, they can do it. Though not as effectively as a faeling of course. But still doable.

Try being a non-demi monk illithoid and tell me how it works for you.

As my dad used to say over every angsty comment I ever made: Can't win 'em all.

For the exceptional bashing Illithoid are capable of, the low int/cha is simply a drawback you have to accept. If you do not like it and would like to both bash and influence effectively, choose another race (or make use of the lvl3 bonus you get to influencing).

If your aim is for roleplay then there are some mechanics you just have to adjust to.

Meeting in the middle with those two things is difficult at times, though, I'm afraid. (EYE GLOM/SEREN you lucky sods)

BUT on a brighter note, you can make Demigod fairly easily and not give a damn for stats, thanks to aetherhunting.
