Or you can just buy a cord for a bit over half the price of the second tradeskill and flex every RL hour.
Unknown2012-08-22 19:25:30
Or not buy a cord and use all the lessons we have all stockpiled from the wheel, heh.

I'm level 89 and my health is around 4500. Should I still run from cavefishers?
Ytran2012-08-23 01:03:45
Depends on skills, artifacts, etc.

Try killing one and find out?

Can areas of lore that have been undefined be later defined or clarified by in-character roleplay, books, et cetera?

In other words, can/does roleplay ever become lore?
Enyalida2012-08-23 04:18:03
Hrm, that's a really tough question. At a certain level, if you submit something as a scholarly type book, and it's done well enough and without challenge, it can be excepted as 'lore'. However, admins can overrule that if it comes down to it.

It really depends on what you're looking at. For the most part, science as we know it in RL dosn't work out in Lusternia as there isn't really any true way to do the sort of in-depth experimentation/observation on natural 'mechanics', because none of it is hard-coded and would depend entirely on god/volunteer-driven in-depth roleplay. Therefore, many of the 'scientific' reports that come out are pretty much fabrications based on a mix of RL science, magical theory, and good guesses extrapolating away from guild skills. If documented well, and logically sound, I have always personally considered such things 'lore'.

If you're really curious, or you have a big project of that type that you want to vet, it might be worth a shot to try and send the info to your org patron god, though I'd really reserve that for something big/important.

EDIT: On the other hand, things like History usually aren't as player-definable. Much of the 'plot' of Lusternia isn't necessarily explicit (yet), but is already plotted out and attempts to define large swathes of it may not work out as well as something like science.

I have always wondered about this one: do you guys say "Lu-sternia" or "Lust-ernia" ?

I used to always say Lust-ernia but I thought it sounded kind of ugly, like lust and hernia together. Eventually I thought to myself, maybe it's lu-sternia which sounds nicer, kind of like love and metal.
Enyalida2012-08-23 08:03:22
It's Lust-ernia, it comes up every time there is a ustream with Jeremy Saunders, who is reported to say it wrong (he says it Lu-sternia sometimes).

EDIT: Estarra also says "Lust-ernia" on the Ask Estarra videos, albeit through a voice distorter.

Estarra uses a voice distorter? O_o

Would it be against forum rules to advertise another, non-game forum in my signature? It's a non-partisan political discussion forum.
Xenthos2012-08-23 21:25:38
No politics on these forums, so yes it would be against the rules (they don't have any exclusion for non-partisan political discussion-- and, well, when it comes to people it's going to get somewhat partisan from time to time anyways. People can't help themselves, I guess.).

Does a desk slow decay of letters inside regardless of whether it's closed or open?

Pretty sure it doesn't matter. I don't know for sure though since I've never actually tested it. Can't think of anything else that does something to the decay rate of whatever's in it that requires being closed to work properly, for instance I know my cabinet is almost always hanging wide open and it still keeps all my clothes in check.

Silly question time, and thank you to those who have provided answers thus far. Outside of possessing artifacts what is the shortest route to the Astral plane?
Ytran2012-08-24 21:44:49
City nexuses.

Being in a dispelled aethermanse.

Edit: Or nexii.
Ssaliss2012-08-24 21:51:56
Depends a bit... If you're in a city (or have GateMaster), then your (or someone elses) nexus. If you're in Glom (I assume Seren has something similar), there's a pool on the Night bubble, which you can get to relatively quickly by TELEPORT NIGHT if you're a Nightwraith (or through the orgbix).
Unknown2012-08-24 22:09:45
So you can travel directly to Astral from a City nexus but not from a Commune nexus?
Daraius2012-08-24 22:30:59
You can get to a cosmic plane from a city nexus, and from there to astral.
Unknown2012-08-24 22:33:15
You can do TRANSVERSE ASTRAL at the nexus on any cosmic plane to get to astral. There's a pair of pools you can enter to be sent to Astral on the Moon/Night bubbles. You can also do ASTROGLIDE during wildnodes (or at any time as a astrologer), convince a paradigmatist to put up reality and then enter/exit the room repeatedly, convince a glamourist to weave a manse and then sit inside for 15 minutes, offend a God in such a way that they flick you to Astral, or if all else fails, convince someone to take you up.
