I just engraved my woodcutting axe, so the answer is yes, they can.

...odd.

Falcon:

1. Great Rune of Absorption (reason, especially for lower health races, this helps alot)
2. Rune of lucky strike
3. Surging life / mystic might
4. Rune of Vitality

Great rune of absorption is great if you are a low health hero, lucky strike is better than flat increase of damage as the number of crits are better for hunting than doing straight damage. Have both of those, i placed surging life and mystic might together because well, small increase in damage as well as small increase of health, your choice, depends on what you need more. Rune of vitality at the end because there are different ways to get that regen, from race to karma and such.

The problem with the RoA is that it seems so expensive for what it does. Beast Bodyguard blocks everything cheaper, while RoA only blocks cutting and blunt. Not types like psionic, asphyx or fire. Sure, it's almost 28% blocking chance against physical, but it's usually not the physical damage that gives me trouble one on one.

RoA and Bodyguard stack when bashing. I certainly don't regret having one (though admittedly I didn't pay for it. Yay Christmas!)
Kiradawea2011-10-18 18:02:35
Yes they do. But where Bodyguard protects against all denizen attacks, RoA only protects against physical damage. So if I buy it, it'll increase my avoid chance of physical damage from 15% to 27,75%, but it'll do nothing for all the other damage types high level mobs like to use.

False. RoA can absorb any mob attack, the physical condition only applies to player attacks.
Kiradawea2011-10-18 19:28:51
Are you sure? I asked a guy with a RoA and he said it didn't protect against non-physical mob attacks.

He's either wrong or I am seriously underestimating the number of attacks that are blunt/cutting, or there are a lot of attacks out there with blunt/cutting as damage types when they visibly appear to be otherwise (like gorgog fire breath).

RoA is amazing, I'd get it before a level 3 life rune if you had the option.
Kiradawea2011-10-18 19:39:35
Okay. I'll go for the RoA then, and find someone with a beast with elemental breath and do some testing. Most creatures have at least one physical attack anyway, so it won't be a bad choice.

Is there a resource that shows exactly how much weight certain buffs have? Something more detailed than HELP BUFFS?

What are Ascendant powers?
Rathan2011-10-18 20:38:32
There are two types of divine powers: Demigod powers, and Ascendant powers. The demigod ones are the general "staples" you see people using all the time, like zap, seek, and the custom entrance/exit messages.

The Ascendant Powers, however, are a special set of 27 powers themed on the 9 Seals/Domoth. These powers are much more expensive, more powerful, and are only usable by Ascendants (people who have either been elected by a city/commune or who have won the yearly Ascension event). Things in this category occasionally effect the entire city/commune of the ascendant, or offer a very powerful individual effect.
Rathan2011-10-18 21:19:35
Correct. The only exception to this is a Vernal Demigod, who was once a Vernal Ascendant but was descended by the city/commune for a refund in power.

I have a question about powers, while we're on the subject: What exactly does the Destruction power from War do that it costs 50 weight?
Drezneth2011-10-18 21:26:00
What level should I be able to hunt sandworms? I haven't been able to get an answer to this yet.
Kiradawea2011-10-18 21:26:24
After some testing with a RoA, it seems to not be blocking elemental damage from denizens. I may just have had astonishingly poor luck with it though.

Depends on your race and class. It's health and health regeneration that matters, of which warriors should have a lot. Personally, I'd say at around 3.3k health to be certain. You can't run, but they attack slow enough that you should be able to shield and get some breaks.
