Some of the skill required to be successful on the quiz is abstracting all the things you think may be answers for SOME question into a nice sorted list, and being able to zip to the answer right quick if you don't know it or how to spell it off the top of your head. Some of these lists have persisted since the first quiz!

With the keg runes, If you pour from the runed keg into the liquidrift, you won't lose any sips, correct?
Nelras2011-12-30 19:49:27
may I ask a question here as well...after all, it appears that I need to know the answer.

How do you escape from a distortion field?
Enyalida2011-12-30 20:18:36
You walk out. If you've got some sort of 'bix, you can touch it but it takes like.. 2 minutes.
Nelras2011-12-30 20:19:42
the problem was that I needed to change plane from where I was. Is there any way around it then, short of a bix
Razenth2011-12-30 20:20:31
Aethership.
Nelras2011-12-30 20:21:40
thankyou. I shall try to make sure I have one available for next time. And that I find out where the aether portal on that plane is first.

Right now? No. I asked them specifically about that, and they said they hadn't made up their minds yet. I haven't tried it for a few weeks though, but I somewhat assume it'd be announced when/if they change it.

Not sure what this topic's for but I'm posting from my phone and can't figure out how to start a new thread.

I just came back from dormancy and I notice that almost half the players normally in the realm are gone. I count an average of 70ish as opposed to the old normal of 140ish. Hate to be bleak but I haven't been around in a while and i'd just like to know... Is lusternia dying? And if so, why?

Please don't hate! I'm just being real.

Nah, it ebbs and flows. Some organizations actually have more members around now than usual.

The difference between peak and off-peak does seem to be more dramatic. I think six orgs is having some strain in that some people (who might log on and hang around if a sufficient number of others are about) are finding their orgs generally emptier than in years past, and consequently spending less time around as well.

I think it's also having a lop-sided effect on different orgs, depending on the current climate and how attentive everyone is to each other.

Easy solution:
Delete Hallifax, Serenwilde, and Monks.

I know that it ebbs and flows but the normal eb and flow was like.. 90 on the low end and 150 on the high end. I'm just a bit concerned as I plan on buying mass credits and I don't want it to be a waste. Have there been any events recently? Things that normally cause a mass influx of users?
Rivius2011-12-30 22:48:17
An event is starting, yes. There's been more players around in the past few days than in the past few weeks combined, so that's a good sign. A few people are enjoying family time since it's still more or less that season, some are taking a break from playing because they're feeling burned out, others got some cool new games for christmas, and some temporarily stopped playing because things got stale and are waiting for things to get exciting again.

Is Lusternia dying? Mmmm...Who knows. Probably not.

You don't delete Hallifax, Hallifax deletes you.

Also you do tend to see fewer people around at christmas time, especially the few days surrounding it. People have to travel or spend time with christmas or are playing in video games they got as gifts. Last few days have been more sparse than usual, it'll pick up after new years.

I've been a little worried about it too. Right now, the gods seem to be kicking ass and a lot's getting done, and there's been a pretty interesting event cycle happening this year.

On the other hand, I've been concerned--at the very least there's a perception of things being less active this year. The forums seem a little dead lately. Compare tweets last year to tweets this year for instance. People have told me the "conversations" have moved elsewhere but I don't know where. There are some missing players--Hallifax had a lot of prominent players (who were also prominent forum posters) leave, and I noticed some long time players have gone missing (I haven't seen Malicia around, for instance). The player count seems a bit off in game but they did clear things up so you can't count cloaked people anymore on who or on the web site, so that might be deceptive. I notice we've gone from being the 2nd ranked IRE game on TMS to 4th, but the various confusing promotions going on this year might have diluted that in the player's minds. I feel all of this is a little more than coincidence.

It worries me. I'm just wondering--did some big competitor come and suck people away? Is F2P competition becoming so fierce all MUDs are seeing a decline? Is it the economy? Did a bunch of people finally graduate? What happened?

There's several different facebook groups that for a while seemed to be where all the real ranting was now these days. Since it's been pretty harshly treated on the forums, the forums have grown a lot more quiet. I can't say how active the facebook groups still are, since I will never join, but for a time that's where all the gossip was coming from and I'd be left clueless when people would talk about it.
Xenthos2011-12-31 00:23:08
Malicia (and Nydekion) are regular in-and-outers. This isn't the first time they've taken a hiatus from Lusternia, doubt it will be the last.

This actually is the case with most of the long-timers; Ixion, Ethelon, etc.. all have a history of a couple months off doing something else. That's not really a sign of anything, to me.

There's a lot more discussion on Facebook than here these days.
Alik2011-12-31 02:02:50
Aside from the big hitters going dormant for a few weeks at a time, tully's right. There's almost no forum or tweet traffic and we're #11 on top MUDs..
Rivius2011-12-31 02:04:37
Eh, to be honest, I've heard some people have just found it all to be pretty stale. I think it's just time something big and interesting happens. We're near ascension time, so maybe activity will start to pick up soon.
