Supposedly it has something to do with your essence level and whatnot, or preventing Demigods from engaging in uncouth practices. Ascendants can never lose Demigod from death after all.

From what I can see, it's because until they hit demi, they're worth a % of their essence/experience gained. Thus, a Titan is worth a ton. This counter is reset when they hit demi. Alternatively, it might be to do with experience lost when dying, which is capped for demis due to phoenix. Don't think we ever got a clear answer on it :S

Imagine that a demigod with, like, 300,000 essence is basically equal to level 0. The 'counter' resets when people hit demigod (experience -> essence).

Not particularly for you. It will slightly increase your dodging against physical attacks and slightly reduce wounding.

Next question: I have tattoos for empowering and begging; do they really have that much of an impact on influencing? I'm considering taking them out for something more useful combat-wise.
