Books. We keep em in the libraries.

The History of the Elder Wars is in the World Library and every org library but Halli/Gaudi. It's written in Divine, so you might need a translator, or some orgs have their own translation.

Gaudiguch published Tully's translation of the History of the Elder Wars. Everyone now has a copy.

You carefully study a bookbind design.
Item: Package Type: Actionorigami Org: Public
Gold Outlay: 0
Mortal Reviews: Allowed
IMPORTANT: The main noun MUST use one of these: PACKAGE, ORIGAMI

Gasp! Since when?? Does this mean I don't have to design things that are a so-and-so shaped origami package, or a package in the shape of a whatever? I can just say...a thunderbird origami? :o

I seem to recall someone--Eventru?--posting that this is not the case.

Here we go.

Greleag:

What happens if a person who is a member of a guild, but not of a city wins the GM election? Aside from a political snafu, of course.

Question answered: You can't. Your name eventually gets dropped from the election and the whole thing has to be done over again without you. Admittedly, I probably should have seen that coming, but it could have worked, at least in theory.

Does anyone know what the themes of the each Vengeance game is?
Ssaliss2012-01-24 21:34:28
Gloms is pretty straight-forward. We rule the Basin, and now we've got rebels in our midst.

Halli's is Taint Wars, with Illuminati trying to assassinate the board of directors, and Hieli Goldfeather being insane and trying to take over the city.
Enyalida2012-01-24 21:44:52
Ours is Serenwilde civil war, we've got the dark druid assassins, centaur warriors, various other olden-guild positions and 'Bandrui' running around killing people.

The Freedom Council is up on Fire doing something, but disguised Hallifaxians seek to age the true council into oblivion and leave the city leaderless.

Celest has paladins defending the walls of Celest against Ladantine's army during the Taint Wars and some illusioned undead trying to kill all the defenders and open the gates.

IIRC, Magnagora's is about the Triad of Steel and the infighting of first Iron Council during the close of the Taint Wars.

How to mitigate the alcohol withdrawal affliction?
Enyalida2012-01-26 07:23:50
I'm going to go ahead and guess: "Drink more alcohol"
Ssaliss2012-01-26 07:46:24
Drinking more will make the effects smaller for the time being, yes. It will also make the effects even stronger once you sober up. The solution? Stop drinking.

Ok, I've about decided to buy credits pretty soon. Lusternia is an impressive IRE. The only other IRE I've spent a significant amount of money on was Achaea. I might have bought around 200 credits in Midkemia. At any rate, I'm wondering what skills should be transed. I play a Blacktalon, and am not interested in buying artefacts at this time - only learning skills.

These are the skills that I assume I'll need to learn:

Discernment - either up to magiclist or trans, depending on the total cost of needed credits.
Discipline - trans
Environment - maybe up to windtalk
Influence - probably trans, though I'm not sure yet. I don't know much about influencing here and the abilities needed.
Lowmagic - I've no idea about this one.
Planar - Probably up to conglutination
Druidry - trans
Crow - trans? I'm not sure
Runes - trans, I think

What I need is advice concerning how much I should learn in each skill if I want to be useful in combat and other situations. Note that I'm not really looking to be a top-tier PKer. I'm just not that good at it, to be honest. Never have been in any IRE I've tried. I also want convenience.

About how many lessons/credits am I going to need to buy for all this?

Thanks!
Razenth2012-01-26 08:41:40
Maybe for 1v1 you'd need that much, but in the group fighting that we see these days, you need surprising less.

Combat: Trueshield. So that shield of yours is actually good for something other than looking pretty.
Discernment: Thirdeye. You should probably jump to Potionlist just for the convenience.
Discipline: Focus mind. Trans faster paralysis and power regen times would be nice, but in a group situation there's a lot more leeway with these kind of things.
Environment: Tumble. Your flee button.
Influence: None! Well okay, if you really want to influence badly, get up to Supplication so you at least have the level 2 influence attacks and can divert in revolts.
Lowmagic: Green. There's a reason they're called greenlocks. Also makes a good panic button.
Planar: Conglut. Will save you exp in the long run.

Druidry: I don't know if skill level affects breaking, but if it doesn't, I'd say only go up to Scarabs. Your trans skill is rubbish.
Runes: Trans, unfortunately. Yay for Harbingers and supersling haegl.
Crow: Also trans.

That's about 7404 lessons (excluding Influence and assuming trans Druidry), so somewhere between 872 and 1234 credits, averaging to around $300.

I would also strongly consider artifact pipes (50cr a piece?). You really don't want your pipes going unlit at an inopportune time.

Given all this, consider if you would gain more hours of enjoyment from Lusternia with these skills, or an Xbox 360.

Lowmagic up to Green (Gifted) is a must. Otherwise you won't have any means of getting out of cure locks. Influencing is really nice to have. It's a good means of coin (selling Esteem) and experience (influencing denizens).

Razenth:

Granted, I'm nowhere near a combattant, but with the advent of liquidrift, isn't Potionlist far less useful these days? Vials are a bit more of a set-and-forget (get'em, sigil'em, link'em) and you just need to keep an eye on the liquid rift and keep it topped off.
