As someone without them (faeling) influencing seems easy breezy with just the basics: a little dramatics, some fragrance oils and wetfold. Ponies are cheap and easily trained to influence (free begging). Can also get tattoos.

Edenwe:
How necessary are Great Runes of Influence if you do a lot of denizen influencing? (Especially if you're an aslaran with no intention of getting a cameo.)
They cost WAAAY too much for what you get.
Enyalida2012-02-07 17:03:33
That's what I've heard, no one who has them has enough raves about them to justify the cost.

An empowerment rune turns my usual five rounds with an archon into four. Make your own conclusions.
I actually think they reduce the rounds required by one regardless of race/stats etc. Don't quote me on that, though.

They don't always. It's a fixed percentage gain, and it's not so great, in my opinion. But, in the grand scheme, they're not incredibly expensive, so it pretty much just depends on how much you influence.

The harder the denizen, the more you notice the benefit of the additional buff that the runes gives. For things that influence in 3-4 hits, the difference is almost indiscernable. For harder mobs, it's notable. They stack with other influencing buffs - beastmastery, perfume, performance, charismaticAura, tattoos, etc. It's not a flat out one hit reduction. If all you influence is guards, and you're already buffed to the nines, you probably won't notice. I did this latest harmony challenge without my runes. All else being equal, Tacita (who had them) had me beat by a mile. They are as useful as crit runes are to anyone who bashes a lot.
As an Aslaran, they could certainly make influencing more viable for you, but you'll still want to stack the other buffs as well. As an artifact in general, they're only 50 more credits than the most basic rune that makes jewelry permanent, with a useful effect. If you spend your time influencing regularly, they're worth it.

Would the charity rune also need the gloves of concealment though? Just wearing a single piece of jewelry can raise my prestige three levels, so it seems like it would weaken it at the same time.

My charity rune's on an armband, which gets covered by the arms of my tunic (but not my shirt). So that's one way to do it without special clothes.

I don't know that all jewelry is that potent as far as prestige goes, but the scarecrow hat might be better suited to your needs. Negates all positive prestige, retains negative, while the gloves just neutralize jewelry.

Oh, it certainly isn't all that powerful, but that's just one example, if I were to put the rune on one of my better ones. Even a ring or two seems to have no small effect on prestige though.

I agree with Talan. I'd only get it if you have a scarecrow hat, since it'd cancel all the +prestige items on you.

Who was the first GM of the Nihilists... ?

Brona.
I could've swore there was a scroll somewhere with all of the guild founders listed, but a preliminary search has left me cold.
EDIT: Oh, I guess Xiel's site has them listed. Just search for the guild and they'll be up there.

Were monks ever ShieldRiposte-able?

What do the red and green squares on this list mean?
http://wiki.lusternia.com/NPC_Resistances
Does green mean those monsters take more damage from the damage? Is there also an equivalent list on what kind of damage types they attack with?

Astral mobs are all resistant to Excoro and weak to Divinus, so it seems green means they take more damage and red that they take less.
Unknown2012-02-08 19:21:27
Yeah. Green basically means "Go for it" or so to speak.
I may very well update that and improve it in due course.
This is actually more up to date.

Please do update that. Please. Seriously. :D
(Though if you could keep it grouped by major bashing area, that would be totally cool.)

There is no way of seeing what damage types mobs are hitting you with.
Neos2012-02-08 19:29:14
Not exactly no, but it's possible to get a general idea for some mobs, like obsefessors.
