I'm trying to save up for a rune of shielding, and I was wondering if I got to use the shielded item 'perfectly' -- for instance, this is my current shield:

It offers the following defences:
Physical cutting: 22
Physical blunt: 24
It is not being used to its maximum potential.
It is in perfect condition.
There are no poisons or magical effects on an angel-winged heater shield.

It offers the following defences:
Physical cutting: 38
Physical blunt: 40
It is in perfect condition.

If I got a rune of shielding (52/52) and put it on my symbol, would it be used to its maximum potential, or would I get nearly-halved stats?

What it provides should probably be reviewed now that other shields are much weaker for non-warriors, but I doubt it'll ever happen; too many people have bought one to be able to nerf it without a huge outcry.

In fact, that nerf that made other shields weaker for non-warriors was a result (IIRC) of a complaint about artifact shields. It's a bit goofy because warriors can't even use shields!

OK cool! On a related note, should I find some other item to attach it to, like a rapier or something I can wield in my other hand (a wand? hrm!) and not my symbol? While it'd make the symbol permanent, it's a loss of credits if I change guilds in the future.

I actually just had the same idea, with the wand. Ditch my shield, design a conductor's wand, huzzah!

Unfortunately, you can't attach that rune to jewelry. You would have to use your symbol, or another weapon. Or an instrument, if you're a weird sort of dilettante.

Actually, it came as a result of me typoing the AB for AB FORGING that said "*Greatshields Such shields can only be successfully wielded by warriors"

I wanted it to say something else, instead greatshields got nerfed. *cough*

But still! Artifact shields were given stats based around great shield stats, but weren't reviewed when greatshields got nerfed.
