Lilia:
Do you really expect Hallifax to wholeheartedly support the kephera, without question, just because they taught some of our people how to fight? I sure don't. :P
Without saying one way or another, I find the inference amusing - that blind obedience isn't something appropriate for Hallifax. (That's kind of part of their whole schtick!)
Enyalida2012-05-21 03:56:51
Yeah, or that you wouldn't take a firm official position to support kind (and powerful) benefactors and a hardline approach to discipline on the matter.
Daereth2012-05-21 05:40:25
Hallifax rp has mostly if not always been all about ourselves. If you're in the circle, you're useful, if you're not, you get the boot. Everything to achieve the main goal, as it were.
That said, quite a lot of people would shrug and put on an I heart kephera t-shirt. But speaking in logical terms it should come down to advantages vs disadvantages, which a few people I know of would prefer to remain neutral. Then there's me, I just want gold and let's face it, illithoid are crap bashing. They'll have to pry my neutrality stance from my cold dead e-hands, but then again, in the end it's not going to come down to our choice. It will be more or less 'You want monks or not?' and everyone will be all 'Plzkthx'. Then I'll go cry in the corner.

There's always the option of Hallifax/Gaudiguch getting Tosha-trained monks instead.
Unknown2012-05-21 12:16:08
They already have illithoid (Gaudi) and kephera (Halli) collegium mobs.

While that'd be pretty cool, it would also require the admins to design something new to replace Harmony and Stealth.
Unknown2012-05-21 13:29:23
I always thought the harmony and hive mind philosophy behind the kephera would fit Hallifax perfectly.
I'm not sure what makes Illithoid a good match for Gaudi though, other than maybe "Hey, so you're soulless - we don't care, everyone deserves to have a good time."

Gaudiguch supports the Illithoid people in their ongoing struggle to break free from their Kepheran oppressors and escape their enslavement within Great Prison once and for all.

I wasn't aware of that policy. I'm fairly certain at this point our official policy is "Hit it and make it go squish if you want."
Enyalida2012-05-21 18:03:45
I assume that Grelag was talking about plans for the if/when of Gaudiguch monks coming out...
Lilia2012-05-21 21:05:03
Blind obedience to Hallifax, definitely. But who are these underground bugs to be telling us what to do? Kindness doesn't enter into the question at all. If it comes down to extracting a promise that we will act a certain way in exchange for teaching us harmony and a new kata spec, we'll probably hem and haw over it for a few days, then vote to do it anyways because mechanics > RP. But unless there's some stipulation that they can take it away, I wouldn't expect any laws against hunting kephera, or an official state stance that illithoids are icky.
I do agree that kephera RP is a good fit for Hallifax, to an extent. I remember when Jhen was applying for citizenship, I objected because she was a hive queen. The way I see it, a Hallifaxian kephera wouldn't need a queen, the Collective would serve that role. So actually -being- a hive queen was a huge act of egotism and individualism.
And to wrap up this rambling post, don't forget that Grandmother Scorpion has lucidian and dracnari monk followers!

Anyone have any idea what that mound of sand on Dramube is all about?

Wot?
Diamondais2012-05-21 23:52:31
Yes, she does. And they like each other too, which is scandalous!
Enyalida2012-05-22 00:02:25
Well yeah, I know. That quest has a nasty penchant for randomly dropping you into the death scorpion room, but I eventually got it done. I was just wondering what the point there was.
Diamondais2012-05-22 00:42:04
Only if you touch something when you're not supposed to!

The number one rule of Gaudiguch's freedom. We'll only support your freedom if it suits us.
Lilia2012-05-22 02:25:13
Someone mentioned Tosha trained monks, I was just pointing out another potential source for Halli/Gaudi monk specs.

Followers who hate cities and outsiders! They aren't the only things down there, who serve as a reminder of those who pressed Grandmother Scorpion, when she just wanted to be left alone.
Claiming being a hive queen is an affront to the Collective is like claiming being a GM is an affront, or a Hive Queen is an affront to Zenobia. Being a leader of a section isn't egotism or against the collectivist mentality, it's perfectly bureaucratic! You have managers in corporations, don't you? And CEOs and Presidents and conglomerations and (so on and so forth).

Actually, they share an interest in biological magic. Estarra explained this in an Ask Estarra.
That said, there's no guarantee where monk skills will come from. Frankly, there's still no guarantee you'll be getting monks within the next 2 or so years, as populations really need to rise for more orgs, of any kind. So any speculation is pretty moot, heh.
