When you get full... stop!

This came up in conversation over a clan this evening: how many active members does a family need before they can begin petitioning for historical status? Is it Bannerhouse, Greathouse, or some other thing?

On that note about families, how are the families with equal amounts of honour ranked in POLITICS FAMILIES (e.g. the Lesser Houses that have hit their honour cap)? Is it by how recently they've earned that amount of honour? I'm curious since Windwhisper just hit their cap.

To apply to become a historical family, the family needs to at least be a Lesser House (15 members).

Is there an updated map of the realm? Like I know there is one on the website, but they don't show everywhere.

Nevermind! I found what I was looking for.

Actually, changed my mind again. It's nice to know how to get to the places, rather than just have a map of a single place.

Is old.lusternia.com down for everyone, or just me?

old.lusternia.com is not working for me either, alas.

Also, theater question: Does anyone know if play recordings can be, well, overwritten? Or something? If so, does the play need to be re-recorded? And does the re-recording mess up things like the play's rating, culture win or anything?

What happened was, I was trying to re-familiarize myself with the stage theater commands, and I thought the best way to do this would be to mess around in an old play that had already been set up and recorded a long time ago. It seemed like the safe thing to do at the time. Unfortunately, the only way I could find to experiment with things like BACKSTAGE SAY vs. BACKSTAGE EXCLAIM (which doesn't work, by the way) was to start a run-through of the play without recording and then finish the run-through once I was done experimenting. However, now the play is listed as Setup in BACKSTAGE LIST and doesn't show up in STAGE LIST. I have no idea how to "complete" the play except to re-record it, which I don't mind doing as long as it doesn't mess up anything else.

Edit: Maybe that wasn't such a short question after all. I just like to give full explanations for things!

It can be rerecorded and this doesn't change anything about its ratings, but I don't know if it's possible to rerecord something that's been submitted or won. But if you've messed one up, the only way to restore it is to rerecord it.

Theatre question for me too!

What does BACKSTAGE PAUSE do?
Lilia2012-06-15 20:50:58
You know how it doesn't matter how fast or slow you are when you make a recording, the playback is always paced the same? There's a standardized time between every action that's seen onstage. Putting in a pause is how you would make that time longer, for instance after a really long effect that you want the audience to have time to read.
Unknown2012-06-16 03:02:10
I was not aware that playback was paced like that. Good to know!

I'm almost positive that BACKSTAGE SAY functions exactly like SAY, in that putting two exclamation points at the end of your words will turn it into...well, an exclamation. If so, it should also work for double question marks!

Actually, playback should pace itself automatically depending on the length of the what was last seen. Ie, after a short message you will get a short wait, after a long message you will get a longer wait. Speedup/Slowdown affects this rate, much like you would see its effect in the newbie intro. I personally see pause as a "Let's discuss what's just happened" mechanic, if you wanted to analyse a scene during playback for example (but you can use it however you want, obviously!).

That being said, I'm betting it's only a matter of time before we see someone try a lusternian version of MST3K...

You're mixing up STAGE PAUSE (which pauses playback of a recording) with BACKSTAGE PAUSE (which does what Lilia said, gives the director a little control over pacing to put dramatic pauses into a performance during the recording).
