Treant is no longer supported, so I'm gonna have to manual it until I muster up enough credits to afford m&m.
I suggest you try out Medic!, the download and instructions are in the Mechanic's section.
3. Since Caffrey's map is no longer updated (BAWWW) and Mudlet mapping seems to be the trend now, what's the best way to make use of the mapper? Just map it all out from scratch somehow, or is there someone else's map that I could import into Mudlet, or what? Note that I haven't the faintest idea how the mapper is supposed to work, so don't judge my noob questions too much.
You can download the map straight from the game servers. Open up settings, go to the Special Options tab, and click on 'download latest map version from server'.

Thanks! I discovered the IRE mapping script, but the map is being very glitchy to me for some reason, not centering on my location and things like that. And when I click and drag it to be centered, the next move I make makes it go haywire, showing me as off the map. Some more tinkering to be done with this one, hm hm, maybe I figure out something on my own for once. :)
Thanks again for the advice!

Yes.

Thinking about branching out my IRE experience. Looking at both Lusty and Imp. 3 quick questions about Lusternia.
1- I've played Achaea limitedly long ago and Aeto quite a bit. Learning curve for Lusternia?
2- The Dramatics and Influence skills (I'm assuming from reading they go together) intrigue me. Are they worth it, fun level, viable alternative to bashing?
3- What's RP level like over here?
Thanks in advance.

1. There is a general consensus that Lusternia is one of the more (the most?) involved of the IRE games, but I would say that this is because of the sheer depth of the world and the variety of things one can pursue. You can get by learning some 'basics', but depending on the kind of character you want to play and where (important point!), you may be required to put in more effort to do a host of other things. There definitely is a steep learning curve.
2. Yes, they are worth it (especially the skillset of Influence - you can get by without Dramatics, though it does bolster your Influence skills), and influencing is a very viable alternative to bashing. The charisma of your race heavily impacts your returns on influencing - so those with a base of 15-18 would find it more beneficial. You can sell esteem that you earn via influencing, so it's profitable in this way, too. It's great too, to just have an alternative to bashing. Variety is the spice of life, after all!
3. RP can be a little hit or miss. Given the fast pace of some aspects of the game, it's sometimes hard to incorporate deep RP. However, with that said, you will certainly find it, especially if you make an effort yourself, and when you do it's very rewarding. The lore and history for the game is rich and detailed, and generally speaking, everyone gets behind their respective org's purpose for being. The conflict this inspires really makes the game. So on a scale? Not sure. Others might be able to compare other IRE games with Lusternia, but I've always been satisfied.

What Svorai said, mostly. Both Imperian and Lusternia tend to have stronger RP (usually) than the two games you're familiar with. From my subjective point of view, in terms of RP you'll find in IRE, the list goes like this:
Achaea -> Aetolia -> Imperian -> Lusternia -> Midkemia
With Achaea being the hardest to find a good RP session, and it being nigh constant in Midkemia. Lusternia and Midkemia definitely have the strongest RP of them all, and with some characters (especially the much older ones) you can reach a MUSH-level RP style in both, if you want to.
The RP you will get here very much depends on what you put into it. And don't get discouraged if a couple people don't respond. Some just don't, and that's not indicative of the game as a whole.

Riluna:

Have you ever played Aetolia to any great extend? Granted, I have not for a couple of years now, but they certainly used to be by -far- the best for RP.
Personally, I'd say Lusternia is not much better than Achaea. We seem more geared to combat and coding here.
Riluna2012-06-21 09:21:15
I did, and do, and I'm not trying to imply that there -isn't- any RP to be found there. But it's by far stronger here.
And we're much, much better for RP than Achaea, without a doubt. I assume it's mostly because of the amount of lore we have to draw upon.

I'm going to try and be brutally honest and optimistic at the same time. I play Lusternia for a variety of reasons, but the things that keep me engaged and looking forward to logging on recently are the indepth gameworld and the ongoing RP I have with fellow players. Put simply, if there wasn't any RP in the game, I wouldn't play it.
But what other people are saying is true; it's tough to find it sometimes. There are a lot of people who aren't interested in it at all, and that's fine - people are always going to want different things out of a game as varied as Lusternia. I promise you there -are- people who are interested in in-depth RP, and I would like to think that we're always willing to leap in and engage with someone who tries. I've had a lot of awesome RP with some newbie characters recently and it's so exciting to see them interested in it.
Now here's the brutally honest bit - our RP level is, on average, not as good as Aetolia's. Nor is our emoting engine as good as theirs (though we've had additions to things lately that have really helped, like EMLIST). For whatever reason, we simply don't have a similarly minded playersbase. This should not put you off! Because what makes Lusternia awesome is it's background and lore - and within it is a huge amount of scope for all manner of interesting RP.
Tl;dr summary - we need more engaged RPers to take advantage of our awesome game and background. Please come and try Lusternia, but beware of the need to hunt and dig a bit to find the right players to RP with. We are there, somewhere!
PS: Apologies if any of this is rushed/doesn't make sense, the combination of 'just woke up' and 'topic I am passionate about' might not work so well for being coherent :D

Good to know. Think I'm gonna gve Lusternia a shot. Influence being the tipping point.
Thanks for all the replies folks.

Anyone know this? I don't want to spend 12 million essence on something that's crap.
Iosai2012-06-30 16:56:28
10 DMP to all.
Shamarah2012-06-30 17:18:29
Thanks! Guess I won't bother with that then, doesn't seem worth it for +5% damage (possibly even less).
