Other people are finding their spots with the shards at least, right?

It's never taken me over half an hour to find a spot before. But maybe that's just bad luck.

EDIT: Oh, now I see what the problem was. This hot/cold doesn't have a special message for the same local area, but only for how many rooms away you are. Bleh.

Wait, really? Better hope you don't get a shard in a room with no normal exits then.

I want to eventually design my own furniture for my manse - but I've already got stasis gems in two rooms with furniture.

If I destroy the furniture and put new stuff in, does the stasis gem go away? Or does it stay, and when I put new furniture in it'll keep those non-decay like, too?
Iosai2012-07-01 20:29:43
The stasis gem affects the room itself rather than the items individually. Therefore, if you destroy furniture and replace it, the new stuff will still be in stasis due to being in the same room.

Phew! I was just making sure. Thank you!

According to Xiel's website:

fatal weakness
terrible weakness
moderate weakness
slight weakness
slight resistance
moderate resistance
great resistance
invulnerability

...where does mild go? I just saw today that there is mild.
Lehki2012-07-02 03:06:51
There is also enormous resistance.

My best guesses just based on the words are

slight|mild|moderate|great|enormous|invulnerability for resistance
slight|moderate|terrible|fatal for weakness
Xiel2012-07-02 04:31:14
Where did the enormous come from?

Xiel:

Where did the enormous come from?

Honestly, I can't remember for sure... it was awhile ago I saw it, I know I posted about it then so maybe I said it there?

I think it was probably Icewynd or Muud.

EDIT: Yeah Icewynd. The Abominations that are in the mountains.

This hulking beast possesses eerie similarities to a white-furred igasho; however, his entire, muscular form is covered in bristled, ice-rimed white and he is several hands taller. Bulging fingers and massive palms of bluish colouration grasp at everything he can find, pulverising such with incalculable strength. The abomination's bloodshot, red eyes glare angrily and contrast the blue, bulbous nose and icy mouth filled with tiny, sharp teeth. He grumbles and growls as he moves, and as he breathes, gouts of white vapour spew from his mouth and nose.
A frost abomination looks to be crushingly strong.
He weighs about 458 pounds.
He has a slight resistance to magic damage.
He has a moderate weakness to fire damage.
He has an enormous resistance to cold damage.
He has a slight weakness to electrical damage.
You cannot see what a frost abomination is holding.

Why do gorgogs have a resistance to cold? Aren't they supposed to be fiery? Asking cause I'm selfish and want to bash them easier with WildeChord, teehee. :)

Also, just to make sure: if something has a resistance to magical damage, but nothing is mentioned concerning cold/div, WildeChord (75/25 cold/div) should do more damage than minorsecond (magic), yes? Same if reverse - they have a resist to cold, but nothing regarding magic, m2 should do more?

Don't laugh at my stupid. :(

Yes that sounds correct.

Ah, thanks! More guesstimations to do then.

It's been a while but I thought they were made of mud/a mud like thing? Even if they can set you on fire.

They are, I'm just silly and want cold damage to be better. *slapself*

Gorgogs and all other gorgoid creatures are made from equal quantities of all four elements. Thus, a gorgog appears as a large humanoid made from burning mud (Earth mixed with Water that has been set on Fire) and filled with Air.

The tricky parts come in when things have a high weakness to divinus but a resistance to cold. At what level do those even out WildeChord? I usually just use MinorSecond in those cases, even when it might be better to use WildeChord, just to save me having to make mathy guesses.
Unknown2012-07-02 22:37:55
The best guesstimation tool there is to treat the cold resistance as one degree less and ignore the divinus aspect.
Lehki2012-07-02 23:14:07
75 to 25 means it is doing 3 times as much cold as it does divinus. That means the percent increase for the divinus has to be at least 3 times greater then the percent decrease on the cold to make up for the loss. So if something had a fatal divinus weakness and a slight cold resistance, I think it would be a net gain. But fatal to mild, or terrible to slight, I'm not so sure since I dunno the exact numbers, a maybe on those.

This is also assuming that the damage calculations are done the way I guess they are, which really, I dunno. There could be some more dumb legacy code from Achaea that makes it works weird, or whatever.

Working on some tailoring designs for a little pet-project. Is it possible to tailor a 'sash' as a type of belt? I could have sworn I saw some back in the day that weren't artifact items, but shopping around I didn't happen to see any, which made me think perhaps that wasn't a thing and I was hallucinating all along. Thanks!
Unknown2012-07-03 03:49:47
It has to have "belt" in the design name. Though it could probably pass as something like this older design I found while checking:

You carefully study a tailoring pattern.
Item: Belt Type: Accessories Org: Public
Commodities: silk 3 redtint 3
Mortal Reviews: Allowed
Layer: ACCESSORY Bodyparts: waist
IMPORTANT: The main noun MUST use one of these: BELT
Appearance:
a flashy belt of burnished scarlet silk
Dropped:
A blindingly red belt has been discarded here.
Examined:
Little more than a long, plush band of exceedingly shiny silk, this
simple belt is all flair and no function. Its sharp scarlet hue is
especially eye-catching, and it has been specifically trimmed to fit its
wearer's waist in such a way that the ends drape just above the knees
when knotted.

So I asked when cavalier first came out and nobody could say then. Is it known if bonding a beast with cavalier and then flexing it out lets the beast keep the extra bonded abilities?
