2mil isn't that much, though. Aetherbash or autobash and you'll have it back in a matter of hours. Even as a pretty slow basher I can make 2mil back relatively easily - granted I am already a demigod, omni trans, with artifacts and not everyone has it so easily.
While Lusternia isn't WoW one of the things I had always liked about WoW was that you received other penalties for dying that didn't include XP loss - such as choosing between the weakness debuff or having to walk back to your corpse. The debuff would make you have to sit around for 10 minutes while it wore off (and logging out stopped the countdown). Now that I think about it, burnout is a lot like that.
Anyway I can't see the admin changing any of how it works, but they did just buff xp gains so it is not all bad.

Dying should trigger your laptop battery exploding and the screen flashing in such a way to give you seizures.

Personally I think it would be interesting if dying gave you the option of either a relatively quick resurrect coupled with an xp loss. Or a much more lengthy one (10 mins or so) but without loss. Similar to how ascendants can slowly reform at no essence loss or instantly reform. That way if you want to get back into things you can, but take a hit. Or you can be out of commission for awhile but then suffer nothing else long term. It is likely not really worth the coding effort to overhaul the death system at this point though.
One thing I would like is a way (perhaps at 10 power cost) to reject the vitae defense though.

The first idea is brilliant.

I think both ideas are brilliant, but if I could have just one, then the first for sure.
Another thought for vitae, is simply ask the player if they want to resurrect through it or not, and if not it proceeds with praying but you'll lose vitae anyhow.

Or you could just not drink vitae unless you know you are going to want it.
Ssaliss2011-09-21 12:37:57
You might normally want it for bashing and whatnot, but would probably not want its effect for, say, raiding. And once you sip it for bashing, you can't un-sip it when you go raid.
Unknown2011-09-21 17:31:12
Vitae is so not worth it while raiding, better to just have a Burning Will To Live ™.

Except if you think you are going to die while bashing and don't then end up dying twice in enemy territory. I think some way to drop vitae and transmigration would be wonderful.

This. The "don't drink it" argument is a bit meh.
Enyalida2011-09-21 21:52:17
The similar 'don't like it don't participate in it' argument falls flat for me a lot also, at some point 'it' stops being a frustrating part of Lusternia and becomes Lusternia itself.
Turnus2011-09-21 21:52:51
Yes, there's really no real point of vitae existing if its best to just never sip it, ever - due to the fact that it causes pain later if you don't happen to die when you did want it up.
Unknown2011-09-21 21:54:58
An option to burn off the vitae defense perhaps? I think asking if you want to use it after you're already dead isn't really a great idea, but being able to get rid of the defense without dying would be helpful.

This is what I meant by rejecting it. A way to get rid of the defense while still alive.
Ssaliss2011-09-21 21:57:41
Sounds good to me.
Unknown2011-09-22 00:25:03
Yeah. I never use vitae either because:
1. I'm significantly more likely to die while bashing as a result of disconnect as opposed to making a wrong move.
2. I'm significantly more likely to die with it up while in enemy territory than not.
I've always found it better to go without and just eat a prayer if I have to, and have done. I'm in support of some way to strip it, so it's useful for things aside from magic proofing clothing.

Praying is fine.
Aymee2011-11-05 06:42:12
Praying is obnoxious. It's doubly so when you die because of lag.
