I don't see myself actually being selected, but I'll keep my name up there anyway.

To reiterate what I'd do:

- Try to enforce objectivity through organization and presentation
- Play the part of a chairperson (See Robert's Rules for the implications of this.)
- Seek representatives from each org and encourage discourse.
- Keep the said individuals on track.

To those that have concerns:
- I realize that I've been with one side for a long time, but I'm anal retentive when it comes to being fair.
- I won't be trying to sway people one way or the other.
- I've no problem saying when I don't know something, and I'm currently removed from the majority of combat issues, at least actively, while experienced in combat and such.
- I am a rogue.

Hate to be a drag, but I don't think being a rogue bolsters anyone's credibility. In Lusternia people go rogue for various reasons, but the only players that really stay in that perpetual state are the ones who left out of a grudge/were thrown out/distrusted by everyone.

Not to say that you're like that, but to imply a rogue is more objective than a player in an org is erroneous.

I intend on staying a rogue, but I left of my own accord and still have good relations with Mag. I just no longer care about the status of politics or revolts or raids, so there's no frustration from those sort of things. People can tell you that I was essentially a figurehead anyway that was mostly unaware of what was going on unless I got contacted directly. My point was that I've taken a step back, and while I admit that there was some drama happening when I left, it wasn't out of a grudge. My character is holding them, but that's an IC thing. OOCly, it was a great excuse to do what I'd been wavering on for a long time.

I'm no longer affiliated with Magnagora directly, even though I'll admit to being of its influence. I honestly don't expect to get many votes, if any, but for what it's worth, I decided to put out there what people -would- be voting for if they chose me.

Can we stop the politicking and jabbing? This isn't really the place for it I'd think

The fact that Sahmiam (or anyone else) has to bring up the point that they are a rogue suggests that there isn't something who can be impartial to all parties.

There are two people who are rogue (or were rogue) who could likely be impartial to all: Tully and Shulamit. Having said that, neither are combatant, and my pick would be Tully because I wouldn't even dream of asking Shulamit to do anything like this.

I think the only reason why I haven't volunteered is because I wouldn't know where to begin with an Envoy report, since I've not had any experience with it. I could only really follow the complaints on the forum that are being brought up here, and Estarra made it sound like I'd have to be the primary author of the report. Since this seems like a time-sensitive endeavor, I'm not sure I'm the man for the job, unless Estarra wants me to take a stab at this.

Plus, if people know who it is, they're going to badger that person. It is another reason why it should be someone or other active in the higher end aspects of the game- they will be far more likely to have a better grasp on things, even if that grasp will be inevitably biased by the lens of their own experience!

Nothing against Tully or any of the other few unique rogues of the sort of course.

As for other types of rogues- withdrawal in disgust is not the same as apathy. (or rather, to paraphrase for the topic, withdrawl in disgust is not the same as impartiality).

The bolded will never happen.

Catarin and Nejii are very fair, level-headed players. Not sure if Nejii plays actively anymore, I know Catarin quips in on occasion though.

Overall I am ambivalent about this... each org has its problems (or rather each side), so we're going to end up with someone biased no matter what.

Gaudiguch has stolen the Shulamit. smile.gif

I haven't fought in nearly long enough to call myself informed on that subject, so that would work out horribly.

(Not that this is all a combat thing, but I would sort of expect the person to be at least familiar with combat and class makeup as it is now. Necessary, if not sufficient for dealing with longer-term problems stemming from slippery slope and org agglutination.)

This goes for others too. No matter how impartial you may be, if you don't understand something well (you don't have to be actively involved in it, just understand it) you can't possibly hope to filter out useful stuff people tell you from self-serving crap.

EDIT: Also I have been less than perfectly objective in the past, though it wasn't always obvious till later. I strongly suspect you will find that of anyone with actual involvement though, even if people say they're objective. It's not like you can even do anything like statistical analysis on this game, everything is anecdotal.

While I actually did give thought to it, because I do want to help, I know my own limitations on this matter. I'm not a good combatant. I sort of suck at it. While I like all places equally (I remember Glomdoring and Magnagora giving me cookies and champagne when I first became a rogue, yum yum), I would end of biased, somehow, even if I can't see myself as biased. Whoever does become this uber person, I'd be more then willing to talk to you about designs and more designs though, yes.

Oh, I personally believe in the envoy system, and I find it to be one of the best ways of balancing things in any IRE games.

What I don't believe in are the players chosen to be envoys.

This is and always has been the biggest problem with the envoy system.

I'll leave this open one more day if you still wish to apply (or convince someone you want to apply).

So far, the applicants are: Sojiro, Revan, Sahmiam, Morbo, Tetra, Malarious, Kayte, Nymerya, Donovain, Sidd
