Did... no one read my post? Make it so that you can use it in 1v1 with good effect, and just make its effectiveness go way down against groups (like trample?).
Seriously, stop it. Look, all of you mentioned '1v1' and 'group' and 'choke', therefore my prototype solution is the correct one. THANKS FOR PROVING MY POINT, GUISE.

The only way for that to work is if you make it affect multiple people again; trample does just fine against one person, but the more people you try to hit with it, the more reduced the effect. Same with any other AoE ability that has reduced impact the more people it hits (Moon Dark, Boulderblast/Hailstorm, etc). If you have one person enemied it hits with full effect.
At this point, Choke is 1->1. Period. There's no ability for one person to affect multiple others at the same time with it.
Note: This quite nicely addresses Silvanus' response as well.
Enyalida2011-10-10 00:33:35
I agree. If there is something that comes up consistently, it needs to be addressed one way or another. If it turns out that there is call to remove it, then that's that. If not, there should be some serious examining of how it works and why that's causing such controversy (and no, being butthurt does not count, it's too easy to throw out there) and do something about it. If something creates massive division among the playerbase that's degrading many people's playing experience, it should be examined. No, the answer is not "just don't fight/talk about it/let people choke you", because that would easily extend to "just don't play Lusternia" which is not something anyone wants.
EDIT: This is @Foolofsound on the last page.
EDIT: @Xenthos That is the precedent, to scale AoE attacks, but there isn't any reason it cannot apply to effects that have such a scaling use in group combat to the point where everyone is painfully aware of it. Choke is 1->1 but it's singlehanded effect on group combat is quite exceptional.

....MOVING ON.
I would like to see the Environment skill examined to make it more worthwhile. Currently there are only a few worthwhile skills in it, all before Expert (423 lessons), with the sole exception of Attunement.... which requires an additional 1300 lesson investment to obtain!
I don't feel that this will ever be addressed through envoys, since there is ALWAYS something more worthwhile to report on.

It's like I didn't ask to drop the choke topic from this thread and leave it for the official thread or something
It'll be talked about till you're all sick of it again, I promise.
More proposals please

Can we special report the website to change back to the old version

Akui. You're cool and all, but bringing up Choke in this thread. Tsk tsk. Shame on you.
Anyway, suggestion for other big imbalance...
What about bashing/influencing? Nothing ever beats Faeling when it comes to influencing, as Charisma is everything. And in bashing, the differences between the health of a merian druid/mugwump guardian and surging igasho is pretty huge, and the difference only grows with blessings such as Tosha, which gives a percentage boost to base health. So when base health is larger, then the new max health is even larger. Sure, DMP figures into it as well, but Health has a lot to say about if you can survive Astral or NO WAY EVER.

Also like to bring up bashing, since Divinus damage beats Excorable damage, just about everywhere. In every high end bashing area that I have been to, I have yet to find something with a weakness to excorable damage. Do they even exist?

Domoth creature are weak to it, but that's absolutely insufficient.
Enyalida2011-10-10 03:05:11
Nothing but Domoth things have weakness to Exco, I believe. The idea was that everything that isn't resistant to it is slightly weak to it, but that's not true for bashing.

Something that keeps me from returning to Lusternia, I know it's been brought up before.
XP loss on death is far too painful. I know it's been reduced, it still is awful. Don't punish players for playing the game. If I've spent 4 hours bashing (which frankly is pretty boring) I don't want all that work and more wiped thanks to a touch of lag, creature glut or simply a demigod with a chip on their shoulder. It's incredibly disheartening and frustrating. In terms of org participation, the threat of losing a big chunk of xp will certainly impact participation. Why go fight if you'll just lose what you've spent boring hours gaining?
I understand there need to be a barrier to stop no-holds bar raiding/tree felling/otherfun. You could look at other disincentives, such as stat reductions, or perhaps a lower level of maintenance needed from the defenders.
I'm personally in favour of keeping xp loss in enemy territory though.

Everything that's not undead/soulless technically has a weakness to excorable. Excorable does more base damage than the other damage types precisely because there's few weaknesses to it.

Untrue. Excoro's ONLY advantage is slightly increased damage to players, no mobs.
Explicitly told so by administration.

I have been told by multiple people that it is only for player vs player, and to make up for that with divinus, anyone that is undead has a moderate weakness to divinus. That has no effect on player vs environment, not everything has a natural weakness to excorable damage. That is simply not true that Excorable does more base damage, as I kill kephera the same rate with demonweb 50% poison/50% psychic (they have moderate weakness to poison but moderate resistance to psychic, equalling out).
They are not equal.
Lilia2011-10-10 03:35:37
Hmm, that's not how I understood it, that does sound wrong.

They're not equal nor are they meant to be. But excorable does do more damage in PvE as well as PvP, though it may not be noticeable on the kephera you test at (don't know) if it happens to take the same amount of hits. Don't forget, we gave the undead a big advantage with EYEBLAST versus excorable damage.

So in other words, you INTEND for a limited number of guilds to have access to the single best damage type in the game? Without other balancing factors? I feel like there needs to be a clear explanation here.

Because, you know, we were told to try and get balance.
Yet, are told, that this is meant to be imbalanced.
Zuh? I thought all PvE was supposed to be balanced to an extent, then you go ahead and admit its supposed to be unbalanced?

I hear that eyeblast is really lame damage. Sidd reports a (hazy memory, don't quote me quoting him) getting hit for 1.4k or so damage from Thalkros' eyeblast which is... less then my basic cudgel?
EDIT: When it came out that the Exco bonus damage was PvP only the entire game took a collective "BWUUUH?"
