This is actually something I'm gonna bid on. :-)

Here are some questions for the admin.

* Will you allow it in a city or commune? (I see this as potentially benefiting the RP, especially for long term loyal players like, say, Malica or Xenthos--the drawback is if what if the user leaves or becomes enemied)?

* Will you allow it in one of the villages, for instance, a retirement cottage in Estelbar?

* Does the Undervault count as "Basin of Life". (I could see somebody's private Kephera hive, for instance).

* Can the building be transferred to another if that person decides to leave, like a Manse can be?

* Can the building contain outdoor areas--that is, if you create the building can you build things like a back yard? (I assume this would have to be similar to the surrounding environment--a pond might be possible but no desert in the mountains.

The building is assumed to be on prime, correct, which means it follows the rules of prime? So that means you can have things like a rift to the ethereal plane, right? Paintings from one building to another? If you have a road, can you have a statue? I assume it has all the benefits and drawbacks of being part of the material world.

I assume manse permissions are not allowed, but the private room is for your entry only and nobody else can enter without your permission (barring teleportation/tesseracts or other teleport abilities).

Kiradawea:

So how quickly until people start bidding 10k credits for it?

Don't know if there's that many credits in this game even hoarded (Achaea's been around a lot longer).

But at the very least if somebody wants to outbid me they better cough up the price of a cubix. So I suspect this will be a rather expensive item.

I just kind of hope it goes to somebody who's here for the long term, rather than somebody who ends up retiring six months later, simply because it has an opportunity to impact the whole Basin itself--albeit in a minor way.

(The one good idea somebody other than me could do is patron it for a family. Imagine one of the Great or Lesser Noble Houses having their own personal manor house or keep. I could see this being passed down amongst the family, assuming it can be deeded to another just like a manse)

Hmm, do you guys remember when the food quests came out? I was really expecting a neutral inn then, maybe someone could make one, have the gambling tables on the sides, outside of the aetherplex? It's 10 rooms, so lets say there is the first floor, entry, left right, blackjack, and roulette, upstairs reaches the beds, and a the last room on the third floor, put a shop there, close the door, and put a denizen on the ground floor to sell wares. That would be really cool.

First floor:

-----
------|
----
------|
-----
-------------------------
Second Floor:

----
------|
-----
-------------------------
Third floor

-----

1. Entrance to the inn
2. Blackjack
3. Roulette
4 Stairs to the second floor
5. Darts?
6. Shop, denizen is on the first floor
7. Inn bedrooms

Doesn't require hoarding, just a decently sized escrow. Lusternia's been around long enough for escrows to build.

Also, it's a really bad idea to publicly post what your bid limit is!

Escrow to me reminds me too much of real-world debt--I don't normally trade in artifacts. It feels like taking out a mortgage.

As far as my bid limit--meh, in this particular case I don't care, I just bid the max I would pay and leave it alone--I don't like playing the "keep logging in to up your bid game". I suspect this thing might go higher than 3000 at this rate when its all said and done--too rich for me.
Kiradawea2011-11-06 13:25:03
I wonder why they didn't include more old auction artifacts in this round though, such as the amulet of resurrection or more censers. It does seem a bit more... barren than usual.
Unknown2011-11-06 13:30:34
From what I remember auctions release new stuff while the old ones are happening. Since they mentioned auctions (throughout November) maybe there's a second set coming later on. I am curious as to the gift bags only lasting for 15 days. I wonder if they're going to have a second "Holdiay Promotion" later in the month that might last until New Years or something.

I personally just use the escrow as 'leverage' (if I need to go a bit deeper than what I currently have at this time but I know I can get it shortly).

There are people who can't stop trading in their artifacts to buy things, though. And then re-buy the exact same things later. I have tried very unsuccessfully to convince one of them that this is not the best idea, but I still have hope!
Kiradawea2011-11-06 13:59:50
People still use credit cards, even though buying on credit is very much uneconomical.

At this point, I feel the censers should be made generally available. I've no interest in getting one personally, but I'm rather tired of seeing the "prevent the other side from getting this" mentality of the whole thing, and one sided terrain wars that are then countered by a whole different auction artifcact. Make ceners public. Make kiakodan drums public. End the silliness.

The amulet of ressurection though, that would be a great auction artifact. Fun, useful, not a huge balance issue, RP awesome, and desireable.
Kiradawea2011-11-06 16:11:32
Censers and drums becoming generally available would be awesome yes.
Laxinova2011-11-06 17:24:07
A shopping mall with gambling attachment would be awesome for the auction. Have it as a different exit from the aetherplex, different rooms for different products, food, equipment, elixirs, clothes. Would be awesome if you could attach a public vengeance game to it :P

That's definitely the smart way of doing things, but a lot of people are willing to lose out in the long-run to satisfy short-term whims. The capability to suppress those whims and play the long game is a real sign of fiscal responsibility. (Which is probably why you're omnitrans and swimming in artis, and I'm a pauper.)

And they're done!

I had to dip into escrow, but I am glad I got my chisel. Or will get my chisel. Yay!

How long do I have to choose which of my precious babies to sacrifice? Long enough to wait the month out for artisanals results?
Unknown2011-11-16 16:50:43
You can wait indefinitely, pretty much.
Sylphas2011-11-16 16:51:15
*relief* Really glad the dolls didn't get too crazy; I put 500 on Selene because I knew I'd be at work. Shouldn't have to trade anything in for it now!
Unknown2011-11-16 16:52:10
Good thing I stuck with my gut and didn't buy a bunch of credits to get the building. (Time for Xenthos to build his family manor, I guess).

Sylphas got the Selene Doll. Shulamit got a new Cartel. Yay to them.

Pentagon Puzzle went for a high amount, hope if it ever gets released it will be more like 1000.

I got the stage, time to be creative I guess--as well as expand my manse a bit.
Unknown2011-11-16 16:54:25
Book of the Dead is just depressing. I still contend that every org should have a fair shot at influencing the undead.

Oh, and I can hope the value of my chisel goes up now, in case I ever need to trade it in!
"A magic chisel currently costs 100 credits. It will trade in for 66 bound credits."
Unknown2011-11-16 16:58:47
Quick question, is there a way to see how many more credits I'd need to resolve my auction, or do I just have to remember how many I actually had throughout my sporadic bid increases and go from there?
