Yes please!!

Poisons aren't bad. They've gotten kind of expensive, and I'm sure some warriors *hint hint* would happily buy them below market price.

The rewards in MKO are pretty similar to non-coin spins here, but because of the lack of widespread magical transport and the distance the wheel is to the rest of the world, many people don't even see it as being worth the trip.

Which makes it better than the Aetolia wheel which has things like Sex Change or loss of credits or skills and shrubbing. Now there's a wheel that'll make people not bother spinning.

Really? o.0
LOSING stuff on a wheel spin would make me furious, especially credits or lessons.

Some of the other games have deleveling, which would be absolutely devastating for a demigod here. Only new characters would spin, I suspect. :P
I got two 1 lesson spins so far and could care less. Eventually, I'll roll some dingbats and credits. It's just heating up! Yesss...

Yup. Lusternia's wheel is by far the best. It doesn't have a chance to randomly make me gay.

Ah, well, I'm going to have to fix that!
Arix2011-11-08 00:10:58
would certainly make it more interesting when Inagin buys all the Czigany coins to sit there and watch him flip -flop between genders
Shamarah2011-11-08 00:16:21
Just thought I'd share that some of the possible spins on the Aetolia wheel include Diseases (gives you every affliction in the game), Vacation (swap positions with a random player, possibly into enemy territory), Sex Change (temporary), Shrubbing, Aggressive Enemy, Skill Decrease, and Death.
Jack2011-11-08 00:29:18
Honestly? Eugh. While I've no complaints with novelty 'rewards' like gender-swapping or even the Diseases thing, shrubbing and death do not qualify as a novelty. Mixing things up is well and good, but you have to have a modicum of creativity, otherwise it's just a pointless disincentive.

I think they did it in Aetola because of the more Grim/Dark setting.
We may have Kethuru, but we also have the Gnafia. :-)
(Whimsy is underrated, especially when combining both themes in one. We can be serious and funny, grim and whimsical.

It does fit Aetolia's mood better, and also the bad spins are pretty uncommon and the good spins tend to be quite good - it gives out a lot of artifact vials, keyrings, tattoo tokens, and levels up.

Wait, you play in Hallifax and you're not gay?

The fact that every game has a Wheel bothers the heck out of me.
Unknown2011-11-08 02:08:51
Why? It's a good promotion.
The fact that another game has a similar mechanic does not in any way taint that mechanic. I fully support importing mechanics the work, so long as they don't violate RP/setting.

For me, implementing identical gimmick mechanics DOES violate RP/setting, because they don't originate out of that setting. They are a gimmick that has been dressed up differently to squeeze into the setting.

But if you didn't know about the other games, you wouldn't find it nearly as jarring; the wheel is a lot more fitting to the IC lore than various other promotions.
Whereas other things such as the crotchety old man spewing fireballs are just plain 'wtf', even if you don't know the OOC reference. There's just no basis or reason for it. The cool-aid man emote is rather out there too.

And this is bad... why?
I mean, do you consider having orgs a gimmick mechanic retooled for the setting?
If a mechanic is good, there isn't a problem with retooling it to fit the setting; it just means that we now have one more good mechanic.
