Iskaet, I've enjoyed my interactions with you in-game and I guess I slept through all this drama. Glomdoring has a very particular flavour of RP. A lot of what you experienced was merely a reflection of that and it's not going to change any time soon. Some people thrive on it and some move to Gaudi.
We had a bunch of characters online the other day when Prince Alacardael uttered three fatal words: "Flares! Flares! Flares!" Instantly, we dropped to five total. Glomdoring: it's a nice place to visit.
Do we look after our own? Absolutely. There is a big difference between having a character in our org, and having one who understands that nothing matters but. Whatever perceived hard time you got from Dru, Naia got it much worse when she left the SD and wanted back in. The difference is, it made me want to stay because I love the idea of a forest without mercy. I thrive on Glomdoring RP.
You had an IC issue that was handled IC-ly. Suck it up or move on. (I recommend sucking it up and coming back because I promise you'll love the experience if you give it a chance.)

Going back to the original topic subject, I know in my guild we've been (slowly, awkwardly) trying to figure out how to give people the best bang for their buck as novices. Trying to find a combination of themefluff, useful information, and advancement requirements that aren't wholly irritating can be tricky. Especially when you don't want to overwhelm people who might've just joined up for S&Gs with pages and pages and pages and pages of guild theme before they can so much as move past Master.
Something I know I want to focus on is teaching people how to make use of Firstaid and Curing as basic survival skills. These two can help a great deal with the frustration value of learning, and for people (like me) who can't/don't/won't use systems for curing it can open up a lot more options without hitting that brick wall of "suddenly I can't keep up with this manually."

Sojiro:
It's cool bro, the rest of the game functions off burning OOC hatred too.
It's true. Sometimes, I try to convince people that Glomdorians sacrifice kittens IRL.

I thought people were joking about that. Ah well.
Not all novices are created equal. Not all novices have the same expectations of their vets. If something is working well, but not accommedating a select few, then there's no need to change it. You can't please everyone. It's when it's not working at all that you need to re-evaluate.

We still got a bubble, though! Woo us! :cheer:

Druken is such an evil sort.
He spends far too much time helping novices, answering their questions, and trying to steep young Shadowdancers in the mysteries of Mother Night.
We should boot him from Glomdoring for this behaviour, for it is unbecoming of a member of the Forest.
I have also enemied Sojiro and Xiel to Glomdoring for this deplorable behaviour on behalf of Gaudiguch. For shame, you two.

Poor Xiel.
The point is that over-reaction breeds over-reaction. If you go to the forums and put up something when you are greatly upset, especially when you know that there are people who do not agree with you, there's going to be some backlash.
If you've got a serious complaint on the way this was handled, this forum post was not the way to go about trying to address it. It would've been better to give it a little time and ask when you are not feeling quite so... put upon.

A lot of it is just that if a thousand new posts appear on a thread in one day it takes longer to read (or at least skim) them and so you see more people there because they stay longer just catching up.

This discussion certainly seems to have run its course so I'm closing the thread. If you would like to create a new topic for discussing ideas about novice retention please do so. Otherwise, please handle IC problems in the game and not here on the forums. Thank you!
