How about something that can't carve a totem if it needs carving, but can delay how soon it's needed?

How about something that, if a totem isn't carved, gives it a temporary (say, an hour) protection as if it was, at a cost of power?

I wouldn't be adverse to that suggestion, Lendren. Though something like that would only be useful if and when we had someone actively raiding Prime for the purpose of chopping elders, which doesn't happen often. Maybe as well as protecting it, the power could also alert druids to its existance. But, meh, I wish we inherently knew where elders were, anyway.

Carving is something specific to druids, and I wouldn't like to see this essential skill in the hands of someone without Druidry.

It doesn't happen often because Blacktalon and Hartstone leadership got together a while back and decided it would be best that neither of our orgs chopped each other's totems, and we try and pressure our allies to not do so as well :P.

Created a list of ideas during class:

Split personality
- Be able to separate the physical form with the spiritual form. spiritual form remains in the room. Speech, tells, all can be done within that room. The physical body cannot speak with others, but can do any action you can normally do. Takes equilibrium to connect the two bodies, larger equilibrium based on the distance.

The spiritual body can be attacked as if you were attacking dreamweaver souls. If either body dies, the other body dies as well.

Two or three demi's can combine their essence to travel through aetherspace. A long and dangerous mode of travel, demigods transcend the requirement for a aethership to fly. The passage through aetherspace erodes the essence from the demigod's body upon traveling, leaving back trails of essence which we commonly refer to from the ground as shooting stars.

It has a base cost to use, lets say 100k essence per use to enter aetherspace. There is a continuous 20k essence cost as the essence is eroded from the 2-3 demi's traveling without any protection through aetherspace. If a member of the group loses concentration, then the demi's would separate and presumably be eaten by a passing aetherbeast.

A new skillset (trade?) available to demigods only
-> By studying the different creatures in the basin, their forms can be absorbed into the demi form.

In the skillset, you would be able to study forms with levels of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. 1 being the most basic (i.e. weevils) and 5 being the most advanced (lets say ice devils.)
As you progress through the skillset, you get access to each form, and be able to hold the form longer.
At 3 levels, you can remember more forms, starting from inept with 1 form, up to 15.

The idea of taking these forms means that you can use the animal powers. The powers allowed are scattered through the skillset. You need to make a sketch of the animals with magic ink and 5 sketches. You can get cases made by artisans to contain the different sketches that you can remember. These sketches can be traded with others, at the risk of you forgetting that form until you study it again.

The powers you can borrow for a set time from animals are along the lines of:be able to enter sewer grates and avoid the attention from crabs (with taking the form of a rat)be able to climb trees or move faster in forest areas (weevils)be able to fly (pigeons)
those were basic forms as an example. A little more advanced, or stage 2 would focus on marine life forms so:be able to move faster in water without drowning (trouts, dolphins, sharks)be able to cause bleeding with your attacks (sharks)...
a little more advanced (level 3) would contain the abilities of mammoths, moose, rockeaters
level 4 would contain undervault animals, as well as lets say grave diggers (to be able to hide underground and pop out when an enemy comes close, or pull them underground)
level 5 would have some of the bigger animals such as sand worms, fishers, devils, or others.

As a trans skill, you would be able to take on two forms at the same time. Repeated use of a form would mean you would lose that form and need to go study it again (kind of like making masks out of a person)

Marriage and demigods:
Married demigods can take their spouse's essence, and bring them back to life when they die. Doing so would take half your health / ego / mana / willpower / endurance and give it to them. After all, you can create anything if you understand the basics.

Demi's can teach children 5 more lessons in their skillsets. If you are the mentor of your child as well, well, it's cumulative.

Demi's can switch places with children to save them from dangerous situations, but not if their children have pk careful off, for instance

Demi's can watch and listen to the world through their children. Big brother is watching

Families can form essence banks to store essence for family members.

I don't like any of those ideas. The first encroaches on one of the coolest things about dreamweaving, I have no idea why anyone would want to do the second, the third is way, way to complex, and has massive potential to be broken, and the family ideas don't really make sense for a demi to be able to do.
