A problem I have with adding in high cost things/upping costs/introducing decay is that it feels like it's just trying to artificially pump up 'total play hours', without adding much new content. It's like games that boast these huge timescales of playable content, but then have you walk across the world between every mission, which technically counts as 'playing', and therefore allows them to use a silly statistic.

I don't see anything in feedback about the suggested RP powers. Are choicelook/choiceenter likely to be accepted, or is there a reason they don't currently exist, unlike choice zap?
Unknown2012-02-13 13:02:47
I assume you mean customlook/customenter. There exists, right now:

  • customzap
  • choicezap
  • choicelook
  • choiceenter
  • choiceteleport
Qistrel2012-02-13 13:57:09
Yeah, customlook/customenter. I need more sleep.

Failing all else, having some way to just offer your personal essence to a god with or without some transfer loss would be pretty nice too.

Here is a rough outline of the second draft for demigods.

We are short on sweet demigod ideas, I've added the ones that are new to the list below and removed the ones that have been rejected by Estarra.

I encourage more dialogue about caps (though I would personally try not to really argue for them, since the admin have said they're not leaning that way) and demigod weight, specifically in relation to Estarra's thoughts:

Estarra:

I may not have articulated my final thoughts well but we were leaning towards not having essence caps but rather have diminishing returns on essence gathered the more essence you have. On top of that, we were considering having essence levels allow more weight, for example, if you have 200 million essence you get another +10 weight (number just thrown out) and every 50M essence over that is another 5 weight up to a max extra 50 weight. Again, this is just an example.

So maybe we can start throwing out better, more agreeable solutions in this vein.

P.S. Dig deep for demigod powers.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Note: Italics ideas are new.

Demigods:

General Changes:
1. Add more powers - combat/utility/RP
2. Rework ephemeral system - allow demigods+ to permanently purchase powers that they don't have weight for, but make them inactive (aka ephemeral). Add in a command to make currently active powers to go ephemeral, no other restrictions here. All currently purchased powers will go into this list upon the change. All future powers purchased will go into this list.
3. Rework supernumerary system - allow the supernumerary command to activate individual demigod powers and put them into the 'active' list of demigod powers, taking up their alloted weight. Allow only one power to be activated (made supernumerary) per IC day
4. Add in "builds" of demigod powers, sets of powers that you can swap in and out as a whole instead of needing to swap individual powers in and out. You'll need to purchase this with either gold or essence. This will be subject to the one per IC day thing as well.
5. Review the costs/weight for the powers that currently exist, ascendant included.
6. Allow sealholders access to the domoth powers of their seal. They may only purchase one related power from the seal.
7. Demigod weight expansion idea here, with or without diminishing returns on essence

Specific Changes:

Combat:
Divine beast: Beast power, will improve its stats (hp/mana/ego), perhaps grant access to a special ability,to be decided.
Additional damage attacks keyed to different stats - one damage attack based off Strength stat, one off Constitution, one off Charisma, one off Dexterity, etc.
Increased endurance/willpower regen

Utility:
New damage attacks that work only on denizens, one for every damage type.If feeling constructive, add different kinds of the same type of damage attack that uses a specific stat as its main source of power (ex: cold attack that uses strength, cold attack that uses charisma, etc). Can be slightly weaker than the average bashing attack.
Ability that helps resist weather-related effects, passive.
Quasi-Anchor: imbue essence in any location to return to it. People can't follow through with you, essence cost and not instant. Super milestone.
Dessicate: destroys items in your inventory, so long as they have months left, no arties. Stopped by flame sigils.
Ability to bestow a demifavour, buffing a player's stat by 1 for x minutes.
Demigod power that copies commandant arties.
Powers that mimic the commandant arties (related to squads)
Ability to burn essence into reserve power (not active power, there's refresh power for that)
Ability to extend the decay times on items for essence.

RP:
Masquerade: make a demigod appear mortal (ex: male Trill instead of male Demigod) on honours/denizen greeting/whatever applicable
Sparkles: convert essence into a harmless display of light and colour. Cost some small amount of essence per use.
Untouched by age: Lets the Demi set their own age, a'la Shadowdance Penumbra
More languages: allows the demigod to learn more languages, perhaps even a new demigod language.
Additional divine/guild/org look/entrance/exit messages - expanded choiceentermessage/choicelook

Sojiro:

Combat:

Ability that helps resist weather-related effects, passive.

With the damage types for bashing thing, perhaps have the option of choosing which stat it's based off too? Likewise, allow selection of the combat damage attack type?

Well, that sounds a bit complicated, but it can't hurt to ask.

Edited that in.

If possible, even make it selectable a'la the various custom powers. That'd mean you'd be able to change them on the fly though, which might be a bit too powerful.

EDIT: Personally I'd lean more towards introducing a Void element that nothing resists and nothing is weak against and assign the bashing attack to that element.

I don't think you should be able to change damage types on the fly, it would be too easy. I think something fun like having to venture into the Domoth Realm and to a throne to bathe yourself if the light of the throne which tunes your power to that damage type....Each domoth would have a different damage type of course associated with it. Adds more RP and such. I think you should have to venture into the Domoth to get every power for RP fun or one of the seals or something rather than just buying it from thin air.
Unknown2012-02-20 05:48:51
That's interesting.

If you flesh it out, I can pitch it!
Asmodea2012-02-20 07:39:43
How about something like...

The Domotheos of Nature:
Poison Damage - You kneel before the Amber Pool of the Nature Realm and bathe your hands in the cool waters. Your eyes flash an eerie green as emerald vine-like veins snake up your forearms as you absorb the power of the poisonous waters into yourself.

Attack - The veins on your arms begin to itch as you thrust your arms towards , deadly vines lashing out from your forearms to slice into with poisonous thorns causing him to pale and sicken.

My mind has gone to mush but just a start.
Unknown2012-02-20 07:58:38
Oh you don't have to write messages.

Just throne -> damage type will do, and whatever else.
Qistrel2012-02-20 09:07:54
It's harder than I thought to pick damage types for thrones. How about:

Nature - Poison
Chaos - Electric
Harmony - Magical
Beauty - Asphyxiation
Knowledge - Psychic
War - Fire
Justice - Cold
Life - Divinus
Death - Excorable
Asmodea2012-02-20 09:25:20
Well I had....

Nature - Poison (Poisonous Flora/Fauna), Endowment of Fortitude, Shrink, Enlarge
Life - Divinus (Divine, Life), Endowment of Life, Refresh
Death - Excorable (Undeath)
Chaos - Psychic (Psychodelic Chaos Magic)
Knowledge - Magic (Magic Books etc), Endowment of Thought, Zap, Seek, Second TradeSkill
War - Fire (Destruction), Endowment of Brawn, DivineFire
Justice - Electric or Cold
Harmony - Cold or Electric, PlanarQuickening
Beauty - Asphyxiation (Intoxicating Beauty), Endowment of Vanity

ChoiceEnter/Exit - To the appropriate Domoth
ChoiceShout - To the appropriate Domoth
ChoiceTeleport - To the appropriate Domoth
Unknown2012-02-20 16:02:09
I don't think that the admins are going to go for choice divinus or excoro damage. You could get dirty taintlings using Divinus if that happened.
Rivius2012-02-20 19:42:40
In regards to 'masquerade', I don't really get why demigod is considered a race by itself on honours (and gmcp) in the first place.
Rika2012-02-20 19:45:11
The bigger issue with excoro, specifically, is that it makes zero sense for the Domoths, which has strong links to Immanidivinus, to have excoro energy in it.
Unknown2012-02-20 19:45:58
Presumably because godhood (and demigodhood) is intended to be obvious in Lusternia (glowing energy eyes and the like).

Would a skillset like Veneration for demigods be out of the question? Like where you spend essence to gain more ranks... Like DemiDivinity skillset. You could just buy it from the powers pool or it would just appear when you hit demigod and we could throw in the little RP flavor things all demigods should have? More grand powers would have to be bought from the powers pool.

Anywho, I love what Aetolia did with their endgame where people had the ability to carve little niches into the divine haven. They have no limit on levelling, but we could spend our essence in creating our own little rooms and I have been saying that I would love to see the Havens expanded upon because that little 10 room place has so much potential. I know we have manses, but we could try to make Havens a different beast all together. Maybe there is where you could perform RP abilities? Possible creating a tiny personal shrine to your god...
