Like it or not, he's got a point.
Enyalida2012-02-17 06:17:48
Oh, I don't dislike the point, it probably should be something to consider, especially if things like circlets aren't going to work.
Asmodea2012-02-17 06:44:13
Well didn't Iosai say constructs are disabled during the ascension? Isn't TRUTH a construct power?
Ssaliss2012-02-17 06:45:38
Iosai didn't say that, no. At least not in this thread. Estarra said: Insanity cannot be avoided by circlet or construct, etc.

EDIT: After that, Eventru said: I think what Estarra was saying is that passive protection against insanity (Gaudiguch construct) will not slow insanity during Ascension. AFAIK, DARKCHANT TRUTH/healing have always worked during Ascension, and I haven't heard of that changing (though someone can certainly correct me if I'm wrong).
Asmodea2012-02-17 06:46:48
Yeah sorry, just saw that. Which still kind of says TRUTH won't work since its a construct power no? Or I could just be wrong. Happens all the time
Ssaliss2012-02-17 06:48:26
No one has corrected Eventru yet though, and he said that Darkchant Truth _will_ work.
Eventru2012-02-17 07:13:46
All I said is that I believe Estarra is referencing passive reduction of incoming insanity, and that, as far as I recall, Truth worked last year (to much chagrin). Constructs aren't disabled - we're not turning off Serenwilde's altar or Celest's phials etc for Ascension. The insanity from the Ascension Event goes around the 'protections' for insanity (Gaudiguch's construct, circlet, medallions, probably Paradigmatics Initiation). As far as I can recall, we've not disabled 'active' means of healing Insanity (as I remember, that would be Truth and Healing). This may have changed this year, and I merely missed the notice. I'm merely pointing out that one should be careful reading between lines for things that don't exist, and am pointing out how things were last year. Truth/Healing may or may not work this year, I'm not sure, unfortunately my crystal ball is in the shop (and it's not my call!).
Lilia2012-02-17 07:17:25
No one said that constructs would be deactivated. Estarra said that avoiding insanity through a construct would not work. Truth is an active ability that is granted by a construct, which seems a bit fuzzy to me.

Is this where I get to tell my story of how I convinced some of my allies to force Mags to darkchant truth during last year's ascension, which got complained about through an unnamed channel, and then promptly got..."fixed"?

But by then it was too late. :(

Yes, for justice.

Wait, so Mazing will be completely disabled throughout the event or just on the Staff holder? :(

(I can't seem to ever use that damn skill during important stuff.)
Ssaliss2012-02-17 10:25:53
Personally, I'd like it if Estarra (or someone else who knows for sure, for that matter) would give us a straight answer regarding healing or Darkchant Truth :(

I think that's partially because Celina rolled the mazetrain before you

Darkchant Truth will be disabled for Ascension and Chaos events from now on. Eventru, unfortunately, wasn't around when this decision was made by the Admin team, so he can't have been expected to know. As far as the Healing skillset goes, there are currently no limits on the use of that skill during these events. However, this didn't come up, so I will broach the subject later today - watch this space.
Ssaliss2012-02-17 11:13:17
Good to know, thanks! And I'm sorry if it sounded like I was casting blame on Eventru; I had no intention of doing so. Not everyone can know everything, after all.

Cool Iosai, thanks for the clarification.

Any thoughts about Brumetower, which is used to prevent forced elevation change to Staffbearers to make them drop the staff? It's something only available to one organisation, with no similar skills in the other orgs. While it is less direct than insanity-reducing skills, it is still a skill that happens to be situationally useful because of the unique 'only ground elevation' conditions during Ascension / Chaos event.
Iosai2012-02-17 12:14:20
I believe the Chaos Hamster prevents the majority (if not all) elevation changes. The Staff currently doesn't do this, but I will talk to Estarra and the other Administrators to see if it should.

Tell that to Viy (and me)

Blarg, not enough information -froth-.

Also, regarding Mazing, that's been disabled on the Hamster/Staffholder since Shuyin arose, just to clarify that up.
