I plan to skillflex runes eventually, for what it's worth, and give the ol' runist Aeromancer thing a try... since no one really has yet. It was next on my list, but then I ended up getting telepathy first, and now I need to finish that one out before I will allow myself to start in on another skill.

(maybe learning something completely new will make combat even remotely interesting to me again??)

I think runic pyro would be extremely disorienting - being radded around when every room is called 'a burning desert' can't be fun, especially with firewalls everywhere!

It isn't. Annick was runic pyro for a while and I could never find him for long enough to do anything in our spars. Very confusing, but I'm easily confused.

That's not the point of runic mages though. They're supposed to excel inside their demesne in group combat. Runes contributes relatively little to actually killing someone when it's just you against them. That is the reason why so few people play them; they'd rather go TK (and maybe TP) and be much more effective in solo combat while still having some core skills that will be helpful in group combat. Runic mages are very limited to group combat. Psionic mages are also very powerful even outside their demesnes, which makes them a lot more versatile than runic mages, which can't really achieve anything unless they're inside the demesne.

I did. I'm referring to the fact that Runists are rare in *any* guild, let alone in HS (which struggles in terms of population anyway compared to the other melder guilds). Besides people who take it for RP, of course.

Cairnlargo Freeze was supposedly the favorite for prepping deathsong, when I was tiny.

I like to think of Possess as Dreamweaving's signature skill. This might be because I'm not really a combatant, and as a Dreamweaver I -love- when I find people sleeping so I can possess and cause general annoyance/mischief.
