Draylor:
Never mind TP, buff merian!
(See what I did there?) :P
I'll take both. (will add more in about 15 mins)

I kinda sorta like this idea, and can see its potential, but it still doesn't solve the base problem: too easy to cure ego.
But having to split that curing between two vitals should help, particularly if you can apply this effect with only a single psi balance.

So, a rockslide would hit health AND ego, you're saying?
Shedrin2012-02-27 03:08:39
Time it with unleash. Insta-mindburst.

Exactly; that's why it's an easy cure.

Shedrin got the basics, but forgot/omitted several things. Will add to that later.
@Debating
If you're debating, that's pretty much all you're doing to drain ego, because 1.) TPs have no passive means to drain, 2.) Alternating between TP attacks and debating is an effort in futility. That's why if debating is the best/only choice then might as well remove everything but Mindburst because everything else becomes pointless. In addition, debating someone with high charisma, especially a bard is either just a waste or a death sentence.
I couldn't give a damn about group combat, group combat is group combat.
@Shedrins points
Recklessness is meh. I know for a fact all/most systems can easily catch it. It is also blocked by teas.
Hallucinations is a mixed bag. I'll admit the stun added is useful at times, but again depends. It can be used to get an illusion to really help, but illusions can be easily dealt with in a few ways in 1v1. If they don't heal hallucinations at the end of the stun, the chance for another stun or prone is very chance based so not as dependable.
Addiction can be useful, but you can dominate only so much before you have to stop so you can conserve power to be able to Mindburst, not taking into account other power cost like phantom, claws, gedulah, etc.
Stupidity is very useful if it ticks a number of times in a row, but it's blocked by teas too.
Shedrin and I did discuss a possible change to how Psyvamp works, but I've held off on it while I gathered more data on the drain percentages.
Mindblast was supposed to serve the purpose of forcing someone to have to choose which stat to heal, but after it's two nerfs, 1 intentional, the other as part of a large overall nerf to stats, 15% damage to each stat is nothing with the various things available to heal, especially certain regen skills/levels. I direct you to report 420 for a short summary.
While I do like to hold certain ideas back until they're more fleshed out, I'll put forth one I've been pondering.
A focus spirit cured aff that either has a chance to move all mana damage to ego or any mana damage is also done to ego.
Not a fan of the evil forcefield idea, but appreciate/like the general direction of it.
Overall a number of the affs available to a TP are either crap: dementia, paralysis against someone with trans Discipline or teas, or nice but very situational: addiction with dominate. But you also have to consider that 7/11 of a TPs affs are blocked with teas.
Because it's been introduced into the discussion and I know someone will probably expand on it: Illusions.
They can be very useful, I make use of a few to keep people off balance, or make them waste power, but in 1v1 I can make all illusions useless in various ways.
All I've got for now.

Shedrin and I were bounding around this idea:
a skill that locks the Id channel that doubles sip/sparkle/scroll recovery, is cured by focus spirit, and ticks every 6s (akin to leglock).. OR have it halve all ego curing (so if you sip for 1k, you instead sip for 500). I think this nicely and elegantly solves the issue with telepathy 1v1. Thoughts?

That seems too powerful with debating.
Just make it so you can't debate if you have performed or had performed against you any hostile action in the past minute, then balance from there.
I can't really see any reason to use debate outside of TP and Egovice anyway.

Are there Mage effects that drain ego?

Not really other than Psyvamp. That's why I suggested EvilForceField, to allow them to hit ego.

Are there Mage effects that drain ego?
Only three things available to a Mage drain ego:
1. Egowhip in Psionics. Drain is hilariously low, especially seeing as it's on super.
2. Mindblast. 15% for all stats, with higher int/damage runes not giving a significant boost to any of the stat damages.
3. Psychic Vampirism. Drain is large in a sense, but slow. Can get pretty high drains if you have a lot ego.

Even the fake feedback thread gets more attention than druids. D:

I'm just going to assume this is all as farcical as the opening post.
