SO, since the wheel got nerfed... are the people who profited going to get a portion of their winnings taken away? I ask because I find it atrociously unfair that a bunch of "early birds" got to profit so heavily while those of us who are scrapping for some cash suddenly got completely gipped out of the same. I was -going- to buy some crates, but now what's the point of it when the good part's over and done with and the early birds still have their worm while the rest of us get table scraps?

Edit: Also, from asking around.. the other IRE games didn't nerf their wheels. People are still getting amazing stuff from them. Why is it that Lusternia seems to be the only IRE game that 1) nerfs artifacts and 2) nerfs prizes from events like gnomes and the wheel?
Estarra2012-03-03 09:11:23
Our wheel gives amazing spins! (They were tweaked to be more inline with other IRE wheels, but evne so I think ours are still much better.)
Kagato2012-03-03 09:16:02
You still have a chance to get MAJORLY good prizes. I saw someone win a concealing mask (or whatever it is called) earlier today (worth a whopping 800 credits!)
Arix2012-03-03 11:03:21
Wait, so what are the prizes like now? I'd like to know what my money would actually get me. If the prizes got nerfed I'll pass
Unknown2012-03-03 11:16:52
Other IRE Wheels, I believe, also have a chance to 1) remove level(s) 2) maggot you 3) shrub you, among other things. I'll pass on that, thank you very much.

People are so spoiled. The wheel still gives amazing prizes, they just don't give you more than they ever should have now. They're still an excellent investment, though now you can't buy a $69 artifact and get $570+ worth of stuff.

Also, in regards to the 'early birds', what do you want the admin to do? If you were one of those early birds, I'm sure you'd be very resistant to someone taking away from your winnings. Further, do you realize how difficult it is to track these things now? By now, people would have sold their unbound credits, bound them, bought new artifacts, transfer them to friends etc. There's no real practical way to keep track of people's winnings without being an unnecessary hassle.
Arix2012-03-03 11:23:30
Don't get me wrong, the wheel is great, I just have no desire to spend real money on it. If I'm going to throw real dollars at IRE, It'll go to things like credits or arti packages, where I at least I know what my money will get me
Kagato2012-03-03 11:45:49
If you want guaranteed artifacts you are definitely recommended to go for a package over the curio crates. The crates are more designed around the curios over the coins with the coins being a bonus, with the way it was before, people were buying the crates, rubbing curios to get extra coins and spinning the wheel ad nauseum to rack up as many goodies as they could.

It's not about being spoiled or what not, but it it's not the best feeling in the world when there is a toy you want to buy but lack the funds to do so. When you go and finally get the funds, you're told that the toy you wanted is now made differently. It's not the same toy, but looks the same. So is it spoiled by wishing that you had the funds to purchase the thing in the first place, and be with the so called 'early birds'? All the same, heck, we are all spoiled by having the time to play this game - but I do wish the nerf was made either before the entire package deal was made, or after the packages deal month has finished. Not during, because that does feel like a stab to the gut.

I got enough out of the wheel pre-nerf to let me change classes and get 2 artifacts to compliment the change. So I feel lucky and it's a shame people who had to wait for payday get gibbed (in a manner).

I was given a crate as a present today and felt guilty someone spent money on me for what little I got compared to the day before.

However, the change had to happen and while it's unfair some of us got it and some of us didn't, that's life. It couldn't stay how it was, it was ridiculous.

Basically what Falcon said. It's a dick move to have a promo give a certain thing to people.. and then days after, before anyone else gets a chance to partake, it's taken away. A very very poor decision, regardless if it needed to be done or not. Remember, beyond a game, this is a business as it deals with money transactions... if I went to the telephone store and bought an iPhone after my friend showed me all the cool features it comes with... and it did not have those features when I bought it at the same price as my friend, you can bet that the company would be in a LOT of trouble. Equality is the issue, and right now there is a gigantic void bereft of it

Edit: though I will say that it was a good move to at least -announce- that we're getting screwed over. My point still stands, however
Lehki2012-03-03 14:57:23
These metaphors seem kind of skewed to me. Was the wheel nerfed because the odds on it were better than origanally intended? If that was the case I would say the business is the one getting screwed by giving out more value than planned, rather than the customers upset that they weren't able to take advantage of the mistake.

Some people got lucky going for it early, oh well.

I'd have more sympathy for this argument if the rewards weren't still much better (on average) than what you get from just buying an equivalent $ worth of credits.

It is meant to be a bit of a gamble, though, not a guaranteed instant-winning-lottery-ticket every time.

From what I recall of Achaea's wheel, even this "nerfed" wheel is still going to be better than theirs. I'm not particularly surprised the wheel got nerfed because it was a little extreme.

And this is a text game where things are tweaked all the time, hopefully to bring them into balance. And last time the wheel was here they tweaked it a fair bit as well, so I imagine this may be the first time they've had enough data to decide that yes, it needed a nerf. I would be surprised if they had known they were going to nerf it prior to releasing the packages, and then decided to wait on it.

Also it's pretty common for artifact packages to change during the sale, admittedly usually more are added that leave people bemoaning their prior purchases.

I can understand some feelings of disappointment and perhaps jealousy, but this reaction seems somewhat extreme.

Last time the crates were around I worked out that each coin was worth about 70k of prizes on average (or 7 credits), valuing experience at nothing, credits at 10k, and not having getting artifacts bigger than a dagger in my sample. So the $70 package would give 45 coins + 45 curios. If you rub them all you'd get about another 27 coins, so that's 72 x 7 = 502 credits. The $70 credit package is 200 credits.

Huh. That's rather a lot. I should have worked that out last time!

I'm guessing wheel prizes were worked out before they generously allowed curios to be rubbed for more coins, as that was added partway through the promotion. So last time the people who bought early got less advantage. It evens out in the end and I'll still buy some this time as spinning the wheel is cool.
Enyalida2012-03-03 17:02:28
I want to be able to buy the things with in game resources, especially when the spins aren't as good.
Qistrel2012-03-03 18:15:44
Make Jeremiah sell the crates again!
Unknown2012-03-03 18:19:08

Make Jeremiah sell the crates again!

Please! I want to be able to spend my giant pile of gold on something.
Calixa2012-03-03 19:31:05
It'd have been nicer if this nerf came before the sale, or was postponed until after. I don't think early birds should get stuff taken away though because 1) you cannot do this reasonable without a server rollback and 2) they took a risk in being the firsts, so it's kinda fair.

Also, crates for gold, want! Maybe artifact packages for gold too? Gold sinks are good.
Estarra2012-03-03 19:54:14
No one is getting anything taken away! And I apologize to those who think this is a nerf and got ripped off. I think it of it as a tweak that made room for favours and critical bonuses! Further, I really didn't have a choice in the matter (can't say more).

I've been checking for several days whether we can sell crates for gold but I haven't received word back. (Sometimes people forget that there are people over my head!)
