A lot of hiccups during the last few weeks... I've been on edge hoping Amazon wouldn't cancel my CE either. Retailers are all too eager to take up our money without even having the product on hand.
At least you didn't pre-order from Game in Australia - apparently they won't even offer refunds to cancelled orders! :o
I think you'll be fine with Amazon. Their customer service is the best I've ever experienced, bar none.

If it makes you feel better Iosai, we'll tell you how crappy the game is!
Well, actually I won't really be able to play it either for awhile. So it'll just sit on my shelf/HD tempting me.

Just got back from the launch on Oxford Street. WOOO! Well, I didn't buy anything and didn't even get my book signed... but took some nice pictures and video of guitarist playing the Tristram theme song.
Add my BattleTag, Xanadhi#2321!

SWEET GLORIOUSNESS!
Shulamit2012-05-15 10:25:11
Shiny! I got to play a smidge, although there was lag and issues, it was still awesome. I'm letting husband play a bit, or otherwise he'll start to pout. Alas!

So I really wanted to get Diablo III, and I was all excited about it. Then I played the stress test and got a bit disheartened.
Is the game really completely unplayable if my internet goes out? I ask because this happens often to me on the train, which is the only place I have time to actually play games without distraction.
Seems like a real shame to me if that is the case. And I certainly wouldn't want to play opening day or week if I had to rely on all the servers working perfectly all the time.
The game is lots of fun though.

That is the case.
On one hand it's kind of sad and annoying, especially if you want to play by yourself and the servers are down. But on the other hand it should prevent all the item duping and cheating that occurred in previous diablos, which I'm a fan of.

Ideally, they would have allowed me to play when the servers are down, but only allowed items gained while the server is up to exist in multiplayer mode.
Oh well, less distractions for me I guess.

Things I like:
Things I dislike:
Yep, that's about it, I think, at least on the mechanical level. Graphically/story-wise, it seems pretty good, but I won't go into that one!
- A single stash shared by all characters
- Auction house
- Crafting (what little I've seen of it, at least)
- Shared crafting levels between characters (i.e. no need for each character to pay several thousand gold to level it up)
Things I dislike:
- Only ten characters (which makes some achievements awkward)
- As above, no internet=no game
- Simplified skills and no stat points

I don't get people who say the skills are simplified. You have more combinations available than previous Diablo games, and the choices you have are way more important and game changing than "adds 2% damage" or whatever you would get from a talent tree.
Ssaliss2012-05-15 18:00:58
Because before, you chose the skills. You chose the ones you wanted, when you wanted them, and how you wanted to use them. There was room for a lot of complex combinations there.
Now, however, you get skills at a certain level. You have no control over which skills you get, and you also have far less control over which skills you can use in combinations. You can't assign skills directly to mouse-buttons either, unless they already were pre-designed to be on a mousebutton. That's what I meant with simplified.

It looks simpler than it is I think. Which I liked.

I like the fact that you don't need to completely start over if you don't allocate skill/stat points in the ideal manner or if you decide you want to try out a different skill.
In theory at least, this is said without actually playing the game.

Uh what
You are still choosing the skills you want to use and how you want to use them. Yeah, just like before, new skills are available as you level up (just like D2)
There are many, many more possible skill combinations now, especially with runes.
You can assign skills to mousebuttons, not sure what you're talking about here.
Do you have elective mode turned off or something? Turn it on, it's an option in gameplay
Unknown2012-05-16 02:39:29
Guys. D3 is absolutely EPIC.
I'm level 16 now but I've tried too many different skill combinations to count. There really is a lot of creative liberty there, because not only can you rune the skills to make sometimes completely new effects, but they all work together in different ways. Much more complex than the previous system, and you're not punished for experimentation i.e. permanence. I've found something for my witch doctor which is way more fun than what I could've had at the equivalent place in D2, and I've still got like 75% of the full skillset to unlock.
Everything else about the game is just +awesome as well. Definitely things get much more interesting after the Skeleton King. (And yes, don't play without Elective Mode. Makes an incredibly huge difference.)

Digitiaaaaaal coooooopiiiieesssss.
I can't remember the last time I bought an actual CD for a PC game.

Yeah, if your internet isn't too slow just download it. Much more convenient and your money goes straight to Blizzard instead of to a retailer.
I hit level 13 then the game decided to kick me off the server and wouldn't let me relog. I've played all the content so far in a group of three other people. I'm a wizard and we have a barbarian, demon hunter, and a witch doctor with us. Really fantastic game so far. Love all the different spell and rune combos.
