:( Speaking of gravedigger pits, I'm just sitting here minding my own business:

10282h, 4738m, 8395e, 10p, 25145en, 25141w elrxk<>-
Talan has left the area.
10282h, 4795m, 8395e, 10p, 25145en, 25145w elrxk<>-l

The bottom of a frozen pit.
The shadowy outline of a twisted forest casts a dark gloom here. Cut into the ice and deep enough to hold several people, this frozen pit is littered with the waste of those unfortunate enough to step into reach of its inhabitants. Stray animal bones with frozen, frost-burnt tissue still clinging to them, have been flung about in frenzy while the meat was still fresh, as evidenced by the stains upon the rough-cut walls, where the blood and gore dripped down the marks left from when fingernails were used to dig out the ice to make room.
You see a single exit leading up.
10282h, 4754m, 8395e, 10p, 25145en, 25145w elrxk<>-
You scent at the air, your skilled nose picking up the faint traces of others in the surrounding area.
10282h, 4774m, 8395e, 10p, 25140en, 25141w elrxk<>-
Your trained eyes scan the surrounding area.
10282h, 4774m, 8395e, 10p, 25135en, 25141w elrxk<>-
You are dismayed as the corpse of a vicious frost fiend turns to dust in your hands.
10282h, 4849m, 8395e, 10p, 25145en, 25145w elrxk<>-i

You are wielding a spider-hilted rapier in your left hand and a spider-hilted rapier in your right hand.
You are holding:
Way too much stuff
10282h, 4827m, 8395e, 10p, 25145en, 25145w elrxk<>-offer corpses

Your karma rises in response to your deeds.
You offer up 8 corpses to Shikari, the Predator.
10282h, 4806m, 8395e, 10p, 25145en, 25141w elrxk<>-
It is now the 4th of Tzarin, 322 years after the Coming of Estarra.
10282h, 4809m, 8395e, 10p, 25145en, 25142w elrxk<>-
(Newbie): Spindle says, "Hello everyone! If you need any assistance or have any questions, feel free to NEWBIE or TELL SPINDLE and I'll be happy to help!"
10282h, 4851m, 8395e, 10p, 25145en, 25142w elrxk<>-inr gems

You store 15 gems in the rift, bringing the total to 120.
10282h, 4866m, 8395e, 10p, 25145en, 25145w elrxk<>-
Shaking in rage, a queen icedigger suddenly rushes at you, viciously shattering your shield of protection.

A monstrous icedigger queen lies here, her bloated form covering the entirety of the pit's bottom.
There are no obvious exits.

Note to self: Idling in gravedigger pits for an hour is probably not the best idea. Luckily Sidd's song gave me some protection!

foolofsound:

Ice Diggers are death traps. Nobody bashes them.

Zarquan:

One or two people will have a hard time, but you get three or more, and it's not as bad as you'd think.

o.O

I bash them just fine. Yes, as a merian.

Fix Lusternia. Nerf merians. :D
Malarious2012-04-13 22:37:47
Make ice things drop 60% less gold since they get massive amounts of em, fixed.

You changed the system to drop less gold and we end up with icewynd giving huge amounts.

Tsk tsk
Xenthos2012-04-13 22:40:10
I actually feel like Icewynd gives relatively poor gold for the time put in... at least compared to a lot of the other stuff I do.

Maybe they're more consistent, though.
Unknown2012-04-13 23:00:50
The mammoths and bears are better gold than the devils.
Unknown2012-04-13 23:19:06
I can do 60k in 40 mins bashing Ice Devils there. Make of that what you will.

No love for the fish today? :(
Shedrin2012-04-14 01:39:11
I find the ice devils to be decent gold, but not the best. It is more consistent than other places, though. The essence is the best part of it, both personal essence and for offering, imo.

If I had a Malicia brand day, I'd probably spend it working on the guild system to introduce some flexibility there.

Firstly, create a guild proposal system. This would allow for a GA to make either an individual or grouped change proposal. (Only difference is that the grouped one is a series of individual changes combined)

Second, create a "create position" proposal type. This would have fields for "short name", "long name", "privileges", "overseer/s", "hidden?", and "reason". The short name is what appears on gwho, long name on the help file, privileges would work similar to clan position privieges but for guild privs, overseer/s is the guild leader/s the position serves under, private allows for the posibility of a position that only those who have it can see, and reason allows for an explanation of why this is being created.

Third, create a "create office" proposal typeThis would have fields for "short name", "long name", "holder-only privileges", "general privileges", "overseer/s", "hidden?", and "reason". Effectively the same as a position, except that it works like ministries with aides that the office holder can appoint and that there is the possibility of privileges only for the holder.

Fourth, create a "modify position/office" proposal typeThese would have fields necessary to modify the appropriate fields of an existing position/office.

Fifth, create a "delete position/office" proposal typeVery simply an option to delete an existing position or office, this excludes GM/GA/GC/Patron/Envoy for the obvious reasons. Yes, all of the other positions could potentially be removed.

Sixth, start thinking of other possible proposal types.

I find that the current set up of guild positions is actually rather restrictive and in some places has nearly redundant positions. My most recent reason for wanting this is when looking at Undersecretaries ("You only really take care of them for like... ten hours officially") and Professors, I wanted to be able to have them as a single novice caretaker position which then lead onto what would I do if I could reshape the positions in the guild.

I remember seeing and being part of guild structures that attempted to have the office type in there, placing the office bearers as secretaries and possibly having any aides as undersecretaries. But this does not always work, you may not want someone in a position that has nothing to do with novices appearing as a novice aide while also wanting to recognise that they are a guild official for example, or you may want them to have a priv that the undersecretary package lacks.

So the goal is to offer guilds the flexibility to customise their guild, having the positions that currently exist might work for some guilds and that's fine, nothing about this requires that those positions be destroyed, but it also means that guilds can sit down and say "We kinda like this way better".

Approvals are, of course, required. The GA is the only one able to create a proposal and then submit it for review by the leadership, the GM and the GC are required to approve it for submission to the patron, and at that point it is in the hands of the patron to accept the proposal.

How the guilds would change and reshape themselves internally with this is, at the least, an interesting thought and as is what other proposals we might want to add.

I think the mantas are even better than those, but thay might be because almost nobody bashes them, but me. At least I've never noticed anybody else ever bashing them.
Unknown2012-04-14 19:58:29
I did, once. They're a real pain.
Lehki2012-04-14 21:27:15
They're not that bad, really. Definitely a bit unique with all the random dragging you around, but I found targeting by id made all the random movement less annoying. Also though you can't turn in their corpses for gold, you can turn in the cloud wisps.
