Remember that the basis of Cavalry isn't the usage of a polearm (any fool can use a polearm!), but the loving, heart-felt bond between mount and rider. I can see the reason for such a spec bonus going to tae'dae - they've got real big hearts!

Can someone explain to me why Bashbrain in Cavalier is more like behead in Axelord, Blademaster and Pureblade, than it is like Bashbrain in Bonecrusher? Does this mean that the bashbrain in Bonecrusher is going to be changed also? Does that mean it's going to need to be addressed in an envoy report?
Unknown2012-05-15 10:38:56
How is it different? Bashbrain in Bonecrusher is identical to Behead in the other specs, apart from flavour messages.

Maybe you didn't understand my question.
A change was just made to Cavalier Bashbrain, but not to Bonecrusher Bashbrain. I'm trying to understand why.
I assume this has something to do with synergy of other skills or bleeding afflictions??

Ah, I see.
Bonecrusher has Pulp. It's the signature power move for BC (4p per swing), which is the only power move that can bashbrain. Assault/Sweep (normal power swing attacks for PB/AL) cannot proc behead, nor can (I assume) Haymaker in BM. BC and BM's normal power attacks (crush/lunge) are strikes.
Qistrel2012-05-15 12:16:11
You wildly jab a wickedly barbed trident at a rat. You jab him, driving your
trident deep.
The point of the blade thrusts through a rat's body and emerges from his back,
jolting him upright as an expression of horror crosses his face. He finally
slides off the blade, dropping to the ground with a thud.
You have slain a rat.
It's a trident, it doesn't have blades!
But apart from being nitpicky, loving the cavalier stuff.

This make sense, except that Haymaker can , theoretically(if allowed) behead someone. It count's as a swing, but it's random.
Unknown2012-05-15 13:32:18
Pretty sure Haymaker doesn't count.

Doesn't count as a power attack that CAN'T behead, or doesn't count as a swing that CAN behead? :P
Raeri2012-05-15 14:08:00
IIRC, Haymaker will not behead.
Turnus2012-05-15 15:00:27
Haymaker doesn't behead. Incidentally, bonecrusher has a 2p move (crush) that does increased wounding and won't brainbash. The big reason to use the 4p pulp is its increased chance of brainbash and thats one of the active abilities to set it apart from the other specs (which have decap, haymaker, execute as their special active ability for instance).
Unknown2012-05-15 16:00:23
Crush doesn't BashBrain because it's a jab, and you need a swing.
Turnus2012-05-15 16:24:15
Zarquan:

Well, neither do any the other extra-wounding power attacks even if they're swings! They're all the same about no-instakills like cavalier is now was my point. Pulp is just the exception because there's no execute/decap/makehay for BCs.
Daganev2012-05-15 16:33:33
Bonecrushers have two power attacks. One is crush , which is 2 power, the other is pulp that is 4 power. Crush does Jab Afflictions, and Pulp does swing afflictions. Both are directly targeted to a body part, and as far as I know, are able to inflict all bonecrusher afflictions of the relevant type. So pulp will do brainbash since it's a swing,
If haymaker doesn't work for blademasters, then i'm even more curious now as to what the rational is.

Makehay is a good way to throw away power ten power :D
Actually, I'm curious if its at all useful now with the change to make sure it always hits. The use for it I can only really think of is if you absolutely need to slitthroat and have 10p laying around, as lunge won't get one.
And I'm well aware that BCs have two power attacks, their 2p one is the "equivalent" of every other archetype's power wounding attack. None of which cause an instakill (either because they're jab or a swing and are specifically told not to)... not sure what the issue is in understanding that.
Edit: To go back on topic, spears for cavaliers!

Haymaker is garbage.
Daganev2012-05-15 16:42:39
As far as I understand the situation is like this.
BM/AL/PB CAN NOT Behead with any power attacks.
Cavs used to be able to Brainbash with a power attack but now can not.
Bonecrushers CAN Brainbash with power attacks.

Correct.

Pulp does not only cost more power, though, it also respects parry and rebounding. The only benefit over a normal swing are increased wounding and affliction chance and that it will hit the area you want it to.
