To be honest, rather than reading, I am in the process of WRITING a book in my spare time. I submitted an excerpt from it for my creative writing assessment a few weeks back and got an A for it, for my end of semester assignment I am submitting a full couple of chapters - the assignment is 4000 words.
That said, the working title for the book is Sphere of Eternity Tome 1: Oriundus Rising (trivia: Oriundus Rising is actually an oxymoron as Oriundus is Latin for "descended" )

I just finished reading the Hunger Games. When you put away all the distractions around you, it is a very quick read. I enjoyed it. Time to go borrow Catching Fire off of somebody now. Also gonna check the $3.00 matinee tomorrow and see if it's playing there.

Finished the Hunger Games Trilogy some time ago now. Finished The Girl Who Played with Fire a few weeks ago. Last read the Maze Runner by James Dashner. Still trying to get through the first book of LoTR. Not a page turner for me it seems, but it's getting a bit better. One of these days I will finish the series. Will start on The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest soon.

The LoTR series is incredibly tedious. Tolkien is a little too overboard in details. It drags out forever.

I loved The Hobbit, but I couldn't even finish The Fellowship of the Ring. It just kind of took itself too seriously, which was a hard transition when you come into it expecting a sequel to The Hobbit. Maybe it's a better read if you just go for the trilogy on its own without first reading The Hobbit, I dunno.

I never read the Hobbit....I tried after the trilogy and just couldn't get into it. Honestly now, I couldn't probably get into LoTR if I had started reading it at this point. Just not that into fantasy anymore.

Well, back on the HG topic....I just went and saw the movie, I was very impressed with how well they did in following the book. I will definitely go read the next book now.
EDIT: Collins herself adapted the novel into a script for the movie. But I've read that she will be too busy to adapt the next one, trusting it to somebody else instead. Hopefully they do a good job.

I read the Hobbit followed by LotR when I was about 11 and didn't really find them tedious until about midway through the third LotR book. I loved the Hobbit, and I really can't wait to see the films. Saw Stephen Fry at the Hay festival yesterday and he casually mentioned the Hobbit in the talk he was giving, which got me all excited again. :D

Been re-reading Lindskold's 13 Orphans series, refreshing to finally have an Asian urban fantasy/mythology out there amongst the usual euro-norse/celtic/Arthurian novels. Now starting on an advance of Marie Lu's Prodigy from her Legend Trilogy :)

I finished The Hunger Games some time ago, fantastic set of books. Recently I picked up Wikinomics and have been slowly reading that.

I'm 150ish pages into Catching Fire. Too tired right now to read, just returned earlier from a hike. So far I'm enjoying the book.
The campus library wouldn't let me check it out, despite me being both a student and campus employee. Turns out you have to be taking classes in the summer to use the library, lol. My boss checked it out for me.

I've been reading mostly classics lately, presently making my way through Crime and Punishment. Not an easy book, and I sometimes feel the translation is lacking, but intriguing at the same time.

I just finished reading Catching Fire. I must get my hands on Mockingjay now.
Also, Katniss was such an irrational, emotional basketcase at the end of Catching Fire that I wanted to smack her around a bit, lol.

Finally got around to reading through Deadhouse Gates. Iskaral Pust is one of the most wonderfully imagined characters ever. Just ordered Memories of Ice on my Kindle, planning on reading a chapter or two before bed tonight.

Brent Weeks, if you guys haven't heard of him before check him out!
Night Angel's Trilogy
or
The Light Bringer trilogy (Second book is coming out soon)
Both of theses are really well written and deserve a read.

I bought Mockingjay at wal-mart last saturday, finished it yesterday. Would have done it sooner, but work keeps me busy. I really enjoyed the book, despite the terrible review given it by my roommate. But once again, Katniss was an annoying, irrational PITA towards everybody else in the book. Haymitch is still my favorite character.
