Back to Common Grounds.

IIRC their snake-type class lost the ability to use illusion with dstab/bite/etc and got some other affliction-oriented stuff in return.

Let illusions die, mages are in -NO- need of help.

Any kind of TK is still top tier, 1-2 alias will kill basically anyone.

I feel like this whole illusion argument is silly. A couple people have suggested just adding an Illusion skill to WEAVE AFFLICTION (or append affliction lines to other illusions). Seems like it would be simple enough to have AutoAid treat an AFFLICTION illusion as a legitimate illusion while respecting Arts detection.

And since illusions originated in IRE games as a means to deter automation WAY back in the day, it seems like if we're trying to encourage automation now that Illusions should be reevaluated. I enjoy Illusions and would be sad to see them removed entirely, but I think that opening combat to non-addict level players would be a vast step in the right direction. Illusion users can be compensated if AutoAid nerfs things too much.

I would be quite annoyed that I just spent 1800 credits for an artifact that would become useless if this did happen
Xenthos2012-05-20 23:16:51
Being able to weave illusions isn't 'useless'-- it would just have less of a combat use.

The real question is if that wand should have the kind of combat use it does, honestly.

Down with illusions! Down with OP auction artifacts!

Up with whatever I'm using at the moment!
Xenthos2012-05-20 23:24:51
Cavalier?
Lothringen2012-05-20 23:26:09
Wildarrane.

<_<

Wildarrane.

<_<

Yeah, that seriously does not need buffing. <_<

I was being facetious! Hmph.

If we're purposely going to keep combat illusions, it would be pretty awesome if Glamours had a use for them.

Rivius:

Thing is, it isn't that robust. It's a nice starter system, but you could easily overwhelm this.

That's really missing the point. I'm sure some clever coder could figure out how to use AutoAid to suplement the anti-illusion in their own system. I already avoid a vast majority of illusion problems by using affmessages. Most of the work I do on Medic! nowadays is -removing- lines.

Just a note, and maybe this is obvious, but the desire for and appreciation of a server-side curing system will be higher amongst those who aren't normally posting on the Lusternia forums already.

Allow bards to dance to cast their illusions with balance while off-eq!

Eh? Learn to time them properly? Problem solved. Illusions certainly need no buffs.

Using the eq to set up a timed illusion instead of comboing it with what I'm already doing is a huge difference. I'm not saying we need this, just that weaving them into what we do more would be neat. I'm Glamours almost entirely for the out of combat stuff, so this is me daydreaming more than suggesting, I suppose. :P

Shieldstun+weave illusion = a longer reprieve when you're waiting on power.

That's entirely unfeasible since it would require autoaid to be on and completely hijacking your system. It would be impossible or at least extremely messy and inefficient, and presents a bunch of other easy to abuse problems.

I still maintain that this does not affect the effectiveness of a mage in combat. Against someone with autoaid, you should be able to make quick work of them without illusions. If they're using a real system, illusions are untouched.
Neos2012-05-22 18:25:21
All illusions can easily be dealt with in any well scripted system. 90% of all illusions will only work on me once unless I am lazy and forget to account for them.

Personally, I love Autoaid thus far. What I really would like to see somewhere down the road is the ability to customize your values for sipping, sparkling and scrolling and applying. Perhaps even the ability to change cure priorities, though I suspect that might be too much. I want Autoaid to be enough to help anyone play and fight decently, and not have the system be so predictable or weak that you can develop a strategy to always perfectly kill someone relying on autoaid.
