Things Lusternia Does Right

The beautiful, well thought out history.

I also will say without hesitation that my absolute favourite thing about Lusternia thus far has been the release of the Meliashmora, making the La'Saet a historical family in the process, and just... the ideas, the enthusiasm that whoever the coder was had for that project. :)

Beyond that, thank you for the liquid rifts, and for all the neat little utilities now.

Thank you for Cavaliers. They certainly seem to be a neat addition, and thanks for the work that has been done to spice up each of the tradeskills over the past year.

All of these things have definitely enriched my experience with Lusternia.

I love the quests. Having lots on interesting, well thought out quests is what I miss most now that I'm in Aetolia. And LiquidRift. <3 Iosai.

I love it when I'm messing with an npc and then the npc suddenly talks back. And there's Shikari/Shakira(the mob), too. The Shewolf has grown. Aroooooooo.

The roleplay, which is the byproduct of such awesome lore and history. It makes such a delightful backdrop to characters that are more than your average warrior creature. They have org/divine inspired motives and prejudices, which in turn help keep the depth in the game.

Divine interaction, from actually being noticed by your god, to NPCs randomly talking back, and even old memories of happenings like Fain standing at the Megalith scaring the dickens out of my character, and challenging someone to a duel (who invariably died almost instantly). Things like that add colour to the normal day-to-day of Lusternia and always keep my interest piqued.

Designing! Just the fact that I can incorporate designs into the game that suit my character/tastes rather than sticking to basic, generic admin-chosen things makes me a happy camper.

The fact that there is always more to do than mind-numbing bashing. There are quests, and influencing, and raids, and trades, and histories to read and write, rituals to create, designs to design and craft, novices to indoctrinate, characters to hate, characters to love...I think you get the point :D

The sheer amount of options you have in the game. There's options to support you in basically any path you care to take, even the really weird, esoteric ones.

Tradeskills and especially designing were what initially drew me towards Lusternia (or rather, away from my previous MUD home). Quests are also awesome.

See: Above.

In short, the fact that the game is constantly evolving and growing in terms of both function and story.
Having administration that drives us bonkers at times, but actually takes the time to try and work things out rather than just saying 'no'.
Having envoy reports be returned with 'We like the idea, but not this implementation of it, and this is why.'
The growth of the realm through our characters, rather than just the NPCs.

I could go on for ages.

Pretty much this. I'd be here for hours trying to list all of the things, if not days.

I appreciate so much, but definitely the history and mythology is my favorite. I love to play warriors, but every now and then I have to play a guardian just so I can get involved in that awesome religious RP

The degree of customization that is possible in the game, from designing everything to your clothes and your weapons (and even personalizing archetype items like an athame for a small fee), to creating a personal realm to your exact vision (i.e. a manse), to creating your own personal loyal creature (i.e. pets), to spiffing up your shop and describing the physical traits of your character, to defining the personality, beliefs and ambitions of a character that you've breathed life into. There are endless avenues for creativity and artistry in Lusternia, without even touching on the option to write scholarly and literary books and produce and perform plays and rituals, etc.

Also, the fact that, if you're determined enough and actually put in the time and effort, you can basically invent bits of lore for your guild that can and probably will be accepted as truth (as long as they're tasteful and coincide or at least relate to beliefs that have already been accepted). It makes you feel that your character really is an integral part of the game, and the fact that you can directly influence the lore of the game (even if limited to your guild and/or city/commune) is, really, the cake that you can have and eat too.

Extending on the same love for the envoy system and your character being able to affect the world, I like how players can help improve the world by reporting bugs and typos. It's because I know that someone will really look into what I bugged or typo'd that I report them as I find them. The fast response time doesn't hurt. (And when we get overzealous, they'll take time to explain it's not a bug.) We can help shape Lusternia on all these levels, thanks to the dialogue we can have with the busy people behind the scenes.

Instead of a huge gap between developer and player, It feels like we're part of the same community. <3 */mushy-gushy*

Deschain:

The liquid rift. ^_^

And every other "quality of life" thing like that. Seems like a bunch of utilities have been added since I played a year ago. Iosai seems really committed to adding those types of things that just make the game easier and more fun to interact with, instead of a chore.

Well poop.

That's what you get for being really committed - a demotion for the rest of us.
