I don't get some of the decisions, I guess; it's generally better to give players more information, rather than less. Asking people to pay 500credits (possibly multiple times for differing types) to buy something when they're not even sure what they're getting out of it is expensive.

The cost of the runes hasn't changed since they were added - long before resistances/weaknesses. Their primary point has always been PvP.

Ardmore got his response from Support, so there's really not much point in this thread remaining open.
