Will each set of four have a different "power" when the set is completed, or is said power simply an independent reward for completing any set of four?
Unknown2012-08-07 22:10:35
Wait, is it a set of four, or one from each 'set' released this month?
Eventru2012-08-07 22:27:06
There will be one curios type released each week until the end of the month, for a total of four "types".
In each type there will be a curio that shares a similar "theme" with a curio in each of the other sets. IE you might have a drawbridge curio, a suspension bridge curio, a land bridge curio, and a rope bridge curio. With all four, you will have completed the Bridges Curios set, which will give you a special power in addition to what each type currently gives.

So collecting the 15 or so magic item curios will give a special power in addition to the normal enchantment-abilty? Or do you just need a faction of the total 15 to make a set that give a special power when those of the set?

Okay... Little bit annoyed tbh cause this wasn't mentioned til now and it would have affected my choices. I might complete all these half done ones, but their sets, kinda wasted credits

No - let's simplify terms. Magic curios is a type. You need one magic curio, one week 2 curio, one week 3 curio, one week 4 curio to complete a set. There is a corresponding curio released each week - with a different effect. IE this week there's a skull, next week there might be a skeletal hand, another week a femur, another week an ankle bone, and with all four you have a Skeletal Curio set, which grants you access to a special power.
Each week's curios will have a different effect. IE they're all enchantable, next week they will have a different (but useful) effect, the third week a different effect, etc.
As they come you'll see why Estarra said most people will only pick one set to try to complete. Of course the existing, singular benefits won't change - you can have and use as many magic curios as you like, and I think their benefit more than justifies their cost (especially addressing the "we can only wear so many jewelry" complaints that arise infrequently, as these do not need to be worn to be rubbed).

So for people who have been kind of ignoring curios because they have no interest in curios (hi), should we like...start paying attention? Or is it still just stuff that isn't worth the hassle of finding all the pieces. Trying to be efficient about what hype I get drawn into, here.
Rakor2012-08-08 02:39:14
That's a decision you'll you have to make for yourself!

You're talking to a compulsive collector. I have a room specifically for all of the junk I've collected over the years. Actually I think I have two.
So yes. Get excited. WOOOO!

I read this thread and see that the skull is mentioned specifically. Is this the only "special" one - or does every piece belong to a component set?
Are there other things that go with the rose? Or the feather, the quill, etc? Or is it just the skull?

The skull is just an example. Every piece belongs to its own set - so there will be thematically similar curios of each type of curio for each set. Does that make sense? The skull was merely one example - and the examples listed with it were just pulled out of the air, I deliberately didn't mention what they actually are. I think.
So, yes, rose will have one, feather, quill, etc will have one. This also means however many magical curios there are, there are that many potential sets. But no bridge curio set. Sorry Xenthos, I know you're really hurt by that one.
Edit: Here, let me draw you a table (as much of a huge PITA it is on IPBA). Hopefully this explains it better than I apparently can.

Thanks for clarifying. I will look forward to adding my xoloitzcuintli, tray of fruit, and mathematician curios to my peacock!

Oh dear. Must have. All (of the three I'm interested in).

I haven't ever seen an asp or a lantern...
Saran2012-08-08 06:45:38
Wait asp?
Eventru2012-08-08 07:28:31
It looks like there's a couple of magic curios that might not be spawning in curio crates.
Well now, haven't we discovered something useful today?

So, will the curio sets give a cool utility or combat effect, or is it strictly RP.
Just asking, you know, for...RP.
