Curio achievements too!

Also, are the weekend ikons out yet?

Yes, yes they are.

Yes, yes they are.

Does gathering Fae / gathering shadows (the power quest) / collecting spiders from the Manifestation count as quests? Gathering Fae especially would, I'd think.

I've been poking at it, so far I've only gotten a trigger from bringing in a rather immense quantity of essence (~200 essence globes for 1 ikon).

However, the next time an Admin possesses Brennan and says, "Xenthos, where is the Crown?!" I can reply, "In my gestalt."

Crow shadows (power quest) does not. There's a few you'll find as the days go on, I'm sure. Every city has 4 or 5 means of getting ikons. Essence is one way, as is the prophesy quest. All of the methods were done in such a way that city prophesy quests would still be an acceptable way to get curios without feeling like one is wasting their time.

To clarify, when you perform certain quests (not all are inside the orgs themselves!) you get 'points' towards an ikon. At a given amount you get an ikon. Any overage rolls over. Prophesy quests are the hardest, but are worth the maximum 'points' and guarantee an ikon. Some quests are worth only a few points, whereas others are worth a fair amount. It's relative to the difficulty of the quest and the frequency in which it can be performed.

Every org, like Celest, has been given quests over the years for really big purchases (in Celest, the Gardens and Athenaeum). They're worth points towards an ikon, for example. Though Celest has other quests too!
Xenthos2012-10-21 14:29:37
If you only get points towards it, that makes it really hard to tell which quests count / add to it.

The blood-baby? The wyrden river? The night bubble?

It's also kind of sounding like the Fae do not count (unless they just add a really small number?).
Xenthos2012-10-21 14:44:06
And for the nai'Dorin, do both participants get points, or just the one who wears the dress?
Eventru2012-10-21 16:04:50
Fae do not count, no.

The rest of it, I'll leave to you to find out.
Xenthos2012-10-21 16:13:44
How do you find out if it does not tell you? :P

Aside from getting really lucky that you do the quest just as it tips you over; but that just means you're theoretically doing quests that have no impact whatsoever over and over. Not exactly a thrilling prospect, y'know.
Xenthos2012-10-21 16:15:43
Idea: Something that tells you how close you are to achieving the next org-ikon.

Or just a line completing a quest that affects it saying, "You sense an ikon continuing to form."

Knowing that you're making progress >>> guessing.
Unknown2012-10-21 16:17:15
Some heads up as to if you're on the right track at all would be much appreciated, yes.

(Feeling rather lucky Hallifax was the example given in the news post right about now.)
Xenthos2012-10-21 16:22:22
Yeah, I am a little put out that only Hallifax got an explanation; apparently our nexus world's quest doesn't give pieces either, so it's also misleading.
Unknown2012-10-21 16:27:29
Trying to think of things that might give pieces for Glomdoring, if not nexus world or power quest or fae...making pustules for Rowena? Dropping corpses at the places that bring back mystics/ritualists? Just speculation obviously.
Xenthos2012-10-21 16:32:43
I'm guessing neither of those do.
It's probably blood-baby / wyrden river / Nai'Dorin (only the gown-wearer gets it which means the Brennan-stand-in is SOL) / prophecy quest / Night bubble.
* Note, this is all speculation.

And none of that is really repeatable at all, so, yeah. :(

Wait, why would only the gown wearer get it? I didn't think it mattered who wore what.

Phoebus:

Because the gown-wearer has to hand in the final item to complete it.

The power gets split 50/50 but my guess is that the ikon progress isn't shared. No way to know, though!
Eventru2012-10-21 17:31:29
I'll ask Est if she minds a progress comment when you complete a city-related ikon quest (was planning on doing so earlier when you were asking to begin with, I realized it was a bit of a pain) when I see her later.

Every nexus world quest does (Gaudiguch gets it for doing Fleshpots, Hallifax for giving crystals to polyhedrons). It takes a lot though, because its a very easy quest.

Nai'dorin I simply don't know off-hand
Xenthos2012-10-21 17:34:44
Thank you!
Xenthos2012-10-21 18:02:36
Additional observations:
1) Turning in 200 essence gives you an ikon for your org.
2) Turning in ~180 essence and then doing a quest for your org gives you an ikon.
3) Turning in another 30 essence after doing the quest does not give you an ikon.

Note: The quest I did was the Nai'Dorin, vest-side, so apparently it does share it between the participants (hooray).

As such, it seems like turning in essence advances you 1 tick each. Doing quests does larger amounts. You can combine it and do mixes of each to advance your progress, and once you fill the bin you get an ikon.

Finally: Why is Brother Crow "uncommon"? Hmph. I'd expect him to be more powerful!
