Simply because a card is Legendary doesn't make it useful (or powerful)

But why is Brother Crow not at least epic? I mean, the Crown of Gloriana is!

Crow > Crown.

You know, if you're not doing a string comparison, at least.

The rarity is determined by the initiative and the strength, not manually set.

Ah, so maybe I will find a Brother Crow with better than 4 initiative later.

I did think he looked awfully slow.

I don't think that's what he's saying.

All ikons with the same name come from the same template so they all have the same values. Unless another set comes out featuring another Crow ikon, what you have is what he'll be (fat and lumbering).
Eventru2012-10-21 20:36:20
Maybe it alludes to events to come...?

Or maybe it's just a game piece. ;)

That certainly sounds "manually set" to me. *eye Eventru*

Also, have you guys never seen those little Crow-pieces run away? <_<

The initiative is not manually set.

Sure sounds like it is, unless they just randomly generated every single template and what they do. Which I guess is possible. Hm.
Portius2012-10-21 22:41:18
What I'm taking this to mean is that the designer picks the power and initiative of a card and the rarity is simply derived from that according to some formula. Is that correct?

Xenthos, Iasmos.

You've been shown up.

Shameful.

Yes, there's enough Crow to Crow to make six big skinny crows that run around like chickens with their heads cut off! Fat and lumbering indeed!

That's what I took Zvoltz's clarification to mean; however, that's still manually setting the rarity as well. And completely contrary to what Iasmos is putting out there, since they would definitely be setting the initiative in that case.

If something is programmed to sell at 10x its weight in gold, by setting the weight you are also setting its price.

No, I have not. You told me it was not manually set. Zvoltz's reply (and now your agreeing with Portius) indicate that you were purposefully leading me astray.

Shameful, indeed. :(

Yes. It means upping the strength (probably not possible, 10 is the max) or the initiative. Which probably isn't as useful in your average set (high init/high strength ikons are for very specific setups due to their high power cost).

My point was the rarity of the card is. well, not directly (or manually) set. One must manipulate two other variables to manipulate the rarity - meaning that it is indirectly set (as in, I manually manipulate initiative and strength and the rarity is automatically set). Your comments alluded to a belief that the rarity was deliberately made uncommon - no, the ikon was deliberately made useable for most people. As a result, the ikon's rarity is lower.

It's not the end of the world, and most definitely doesn't require this much conversation. o.O

To that end, it's like commenting that the Elder God cards in Eternity that are ranked 'common' should all be 'legendary' and have 100 strength :P

It's a game within a game, using the equivalent of trading cards. It's not worth stressing over. ;P

It looks like he's set at 8, unless the strength is a hidden attribute / I am missing something (definitely possible)?

Hey now. You definitely (significantly) edited your post!

Yes, Elder God cards should have 100 strength. Sheesh.

Elder God cards being defeated by an aeromantic engineer. As if.

Yeah, I edited after posting to make my point a bit more clear. :P
