SILVER CANTICLE: A Lunar Hymn in Twelve Parts
Based upon the Twelve Guiding Principles of the Moondancers Guild and their
corresponding Moons.

I. Estar - By this Moon I invoke the principle of Reverence.

Singing, solemn or joyous, with whispering lips of praise.
Reverent incantations. Prayers wafted skyward.
Hear our melodic chorus united in adoration.
Ritual chant sacred in meaning.

II. Urlachmar - By this Moon I invoke the principle of Courage.

Brevity. Howling fierceness. Rage in the blood.
The heart beats, fear overcoming fear. Star-eyed oblivion.
Courage is perseverance. Face forward into the long night.
The last desperate breath is the greatest.

III. Kiani - By this Moon I invoke the principle of Vigilance.

Brightly the watch fire burns. Plumed smoke a warning.
Sharp the eye of birds. Keen the ears of stags.
Mark not the silence as an absence. Wary is the wilde.
Watching over all, enemy and foe.

IV. Dioni - By this Moon I invoke the principle of Compassion.

Tranquil is the middle night. Harmony in equilibrium.
Softly our Celestial Mother Orb caresses.
Touched by her shine, tenderly loved.
Best when freely given as the warmth of a firefly.

V. Vestian - By this Moon I invoke the principle of Inspiration.

Fevered dreams delivered in the Fullness of a most perfect circle.
Mistake not this madness. Driven by it the mind expands.
Epiphany the greatest gift. Revelation's fancy.
A muse's forceful touch, curiosity in search of need.

VI. Avechary - By this Moon I invoke the principle of Unity.

Two hands held make a bond. A multitude of hands form a promise.
Through unity a cacophony becomes a crescendo.
Let us not dance alone nor sing in solitude.
Music requires accompaniment. Instrument and voice.

VII. Dvarsh - By this Moon I invoke the principle of Knowledge.

Guiding moon. Light of the wayfarer. Bless our journeys. Illuminate our paths.
Lead me over stone road and through ephemeral gateway.
On this plane or the next show me the way. Seeker.
Even over Cliffside. Jump into flight. Explore.

VIII. Tzarin - By this Moon I invoke the principle of Flexibility.

Bend but never break as the reed.
Flow but never fall like the willow.
Move with the wind. Spiral, twist, and turn.
Endure. Endeavor. Resist. Remain.

IX. Klangiary - By this Moon I invoke the principle of Preparedness.

Guard the heart. Sharpen the blade. Ready your resolve.
Present and prepare for long days and longer nights.
By will alone the spirit can abide.
Feed the body to nourish the mind.

X. Juliary - By this Moon I invoke the principle of Respect.

As above so below. Dance in the company of family or not at all.
Like so many stars we burn. A caterwauling constellation.
Give gratitude to those that flare brightly. Pay homage to those faded and dim.
Look across the endless dark into the eyes of eternity.

XI. Shanthin - By this Moon I invoke the principle of Thought.

In all things the Silver Lady is wise. She keeps the balance.
By ill fate or glorious tomorrow She has purpose.
Contemplate Her form and derive from it peace.
See where you have been to know where you must go.

XII. Roarkian - By this Moon I invoke the principle of Responsibility.

Take heed of where you tread. Forwards and backwards.
Every step results in consequence. Except where your footsteps have lead you.
Waste not memory on regret. Waste not thought on never was.
If you move a grain of sand the world moves with you.
