Just a dream? by Soll

Merit for May 2005

It was a cold, bitter Avechnarian night, and I grew tired. I wandered slowly
from the Tree my life revolves around: The Moonhart Mother Tree. Offering a
quick goodnight to Miakoda, I stumble brefly away from her, and towards a small
camp in the Nothern Wilde, however, within mere moments of leaving Miakoda's
presence I find myself increasingly tired, and collapse upon the soft grass of
the Serenwilde, my eyes flapping shut intermittedly. Moonlight bathes me in its
silvery glow, and my heart slows.
For a brief moment I close my eyes, and relax my body before I hear the soft
buzz of wings. Yawning mightily, I force open my eyes to see the golden glow of
sparkling wings hovering a few feet from me, eyes concentrating solely upon my
resting body, sapphire pools of twinkling light that engulf my senses and leave
me numb, transfixed to the very core of my being. Fluttering its wings in a
flush, the golden faeling glides slowly towards me, and lifts me to my feet. I
stand stunned by the luminescence of this being that holds me aloft, in its
tight embrace.
A passionate gaze holds my attention, and as the Faeling stares I barely
notice as the trees around me glow brightly, and sway slowly to create a
calming, soft sound. Speaking in a most melodious, calming voice the golden
sprite speaks, "I must know." before leaning tenderly towards me, placing their
lips upon my mouth. In shock, I react but instantly subdue and give in to this
being, not just remaining in this solid kiss, where lips press firmly but
gently upon my own in a silken touch, and beauty and passion flow around us as
though in in eddies of lustful power, but returning it with equal strength and
emotion, where we are lost in a golden haze that is the power of this moment.
Everything around us glows and shakes, and the wildlife, as if sharing the
exact same emotion of lust, and love, spout from the ground out of nothingness
to entwine around our bodies and lock us in this wonderous display of
infatuation.
But, all too soon, the moment fades, and with an embarrassed smile the
ethereal creature retracts his lips and leaves me with a feeling of longing. I
lust for just a moment more with its lips pressed tightly next to mine, of this
lost kiss which slowly fades from my weakening memory until nothing of it
remains in my conscious mind, slowly absorbed by the opposing darkness of
amnesia, as if the golden light of this being is the only thing to keep that
memory in tact As this celestial faeling fades through the evergreen trees the
memory is pushed from my mind, and I collapse in utter despair, and exhaustion,
my whole body longing for just one more moment, though before my eyes are even
closed by mind has shut, and I am locked in the lonely, cold embrace of the
harsh grasses of the Serenwilde ground, winds whipping strongly against me as I
sleep.
My eyelids flutter, and briefly golden light is all that fills my vision, not
corporeal or existing, but just a memory of the previous night. I sit up
straight, and as though a delicate bubble I probe this feeling of affection
that resides within me, and see nothing but a golden light as I am lost inside
my recollection of the night. I stand, and search around me for a sign of this
being, but I fail to notice any of the clear signs of reality, still half
trapped in a dreamy state where-upon I relived the emotion and strength of
passion, locked inside myself as I attempted to recall the moment second by
second. And as my search is finished, I weep softly, a a single silver tear
falling to stain the ground which held my body but a few moments ago. Yet upon
the ground behind me, ignored by my half-clouded eyes, lies a single golden
strand of hair, proof that the night was not just merely a dream, unbeknown to
me, I walk on, tears flowing freely, believing that the chance to replicate
that moment again will pass by, and for my life I will never have as sweet a
moment again.
