The Four Ages by Raizan
Runner Up for December 2005
Before time or space
Before light and dark
Before movement
Before anything
There was nothing
A stray thought miraculously conceived
And a divine flicker
Yudhe came to be and everything came to be
His despair and loneliness begot
Two daughters Dynara and Magnora
Life and death they were
The Soulless Gods were born
Past failures realized
The son with no name and daughter of life
Deigned the Elder Gods to exist
So the first age ended
Strife and conflict the twin plagues
Began with the Elders and Soulless
Vessels to sunder creation
Through every plane it spanned
Hope lost and Soulless reigned
So the second age ended
Existence rose and fell
To the feasts of extinction
That the Soulless so enjoyed
Until the Vernal Gods
With vengeance slayed, all but Kethuru
The nine greatest of the Vernals
Knew their plight
The nine merged
And Avechna came to be
Banishing Kethuru, he slumbered
So the third age ended
The great nations all were created
The pool of stars and Celest
The stone of truth in Magnagora
The eternal flame of Gaudiguch
The matrix and Hallifax
Dedicated to the elements
Celest to water
Magnagora to earth
Gaudiguch to fire
Hallifax to air
Then came Landantine
Who brought the taint of Kethuru
Though accident it was
Life was devastated
The nations were destroyed
New Celest rose from the ashes
Magnagora became the stronghold of the taint
Serenwilde, the keepers of the forest
Glomdoring, the twisters of the forest
In this new world hatred came in pairs
And with the world in great peril
Estarra the Eternal, greatest of the Gods
Heralded the survivors of the Elder Wars
Now with Gods returned
Lusternia stabilized, until the Soulless come again
And so we wait for the end of the Fourth age
