The Fae Girl's Story by Iraen
Runner Up for January 2006
Devourer of souls was the foul Gorgulu
With insatiable hunger for fae
"We shall slay!" Erion cried as he traveled unto
The blessed celestial plane
Far away skipped a little fae girl
Think ye, of the little fae girl
He asked Elohora with hope, yet naive
The easiest means of defeat
What she spake we know nought, but Prince Rhysus believed
That each fae corpse might weaken the beast
Fate loomed for one little fae girl
Think ye, of the little fae girl
Celest then set forth on a zealous campaign
On Faethorn converged like a flood
What cold, callous slaughter, as each fae was slain
And the Light bathed in innocent blood
Not sparing one little fae girl
Think ye, of the little fae girl
"Onward to Nil!" cried the butchers with fire
And eagerly transversed the planes
Hoarding the fae from which life had expired
And to Gorgulu brought their remains.
Including a little fae girl
Think ye, of the little fae girl
Maw dripping with blood, the demon lord ate
And Celest came to arms, fit to kill
But stronger he grew, as they realized too late
And he slaughtered the Light upon Nil
But what of the little fae girl?
Think ye, of the little fae girl
Dejected, the people had failed in their quest
With dire consequences to face
As the Fates patched the weave, they returned to Celest
All thinking that so would the fae
Not so, for this little fae girl
Think ye, of the little fae girl
Anguish and torment pealed forth from Faethorn
As a frightened girl's scream filled the air
What horror, what sorrow, a fae child reborn
Taint-twisted, consumed by despair
The fate of one little fae girl
Think ye, of the little fae girl
O'er mountain and valley, twixt forest and sea
All of Serenwilde searched for a cure
But in vain was their chase, the girl's future seemed bleak
To an imp she would turn, this seemed sure
The plight of the little fae girl
Think ye, of the little fae girl
Ethereal powers had little effect
On the horrible magic from Nil
Seeking aid, to Celestia Serenwilde trekked
And beseeched the Supernals' good will
All to save the poor little fae girl
Think ye, of the little fae girl
Bless'd Japhiel counseled the Seren folk true
After days of intense meditation
A tear from cruel Queen Nifilhema would do
To bring the fae girl to salvation
Hope dawned for the little fae girl
Think ye, of the little fae girl
Next Laysus and Gregori, Caedryn and Hayden
Sought to raise up the ancestor ghosts
Moon's three avatars: Crone, Mother, and Maiden
Called the Moon to the sky as a host
Time slowed for the little fae girl
Think ye, of the little fae girl
A prophecy spoke by the old Seren spirit
Told the way to an ancient love poem
Many days did they ponder 'til finally they neared it
Dispersed in the Astral unknown
What now, of the little fae girl
Think ye, of the little fae girl
The poem pieced together in the hands of Valek
In haste to the queen was now read
Little knew he, that he risked his own neck
But indeed, one true tear did she shed
A cure for the little fae girl
Think ye, of the little fae girl
The tragedy ended, at last Warlord Chade
Gave the diamond-hard tear to the fae
Reversed was the spell, and whole was she made
Sweet end to an arduous day
Thus healed was the little fae girl
Remember the little fae girl!
