The Midnight Flight by Exeryte
Merit for July 2006
Listening, watching,
Waiting, hoping,
Crouching in the shadows of Night,
Stirring, rustling,
Peering, nodding,
Beginning the midnight flight.
Moving, shrugging,
Thinking, Looking,
Searching out an innocent fae,
Stumbling, slinking,
Lurking, pleading,
Hiding in the darkness on your way.
Tripping, stopping,
Perking, smiling,
Hearing a sylph blow through the air,
Grinning, breathing,
Smirking, greeting,
It’s praying for a tah’vrai.
Laughing, comforting,
Swaying, talking,
Muttering of the Plane of Nil,
Puzzling, frowning,
Paling, cursing,
The sylph screaming about its will.
Panicking, roving,
Grumbling, regretting,
Seeking for a place to hide,
Stomping, fleeing,
Eluding, panting,
Shivering, with eyes open wide.
Heeding, glaring,
Scowling, groaning,
As angry cries ring through the Plane,
Suprising, cackling,
Hacking, blasting,
Mumbling in a world of pain.
Faltering, standing,
Sprinting, gasping,
Nearing the black archway,
Leaping, passing,
Falling, rolling,
Laying in the corpus clay.
Sighing, walking,
Touching, vanishing,
Failing, with not a single fae,
Shrugging, snickering,
Vowing, laughing,
To return another day.
