A Prayer to Mother Night by Cira

Merit for September 2006

I make this prayer to Mother Night,
For Her to claim me as Her child
For in the Darkness, I have sight
And also cunning, to beguile.

For I am not quite as I seem,
This comely maiden, young and fair...
Aspiring servant to Night's Queen
Whose cold embrace should all beware

My secrets cloaked in blackest ink,
Silent tongued beneath Her gaze
And when the sun is made to sink
Her laughter hides Her deepest rage

Night's Coven, rise!
In Shadows, dance!
Call your Fae and bind them nigh
Send your foes into Death's trance

Mercy is a word unknown
Cold deception from Her lips
As She reaves their flesh from bone
And their blood is left to drip

Hold me in Your cold embrace,
Feed me from Your Stygian milk
Let me grow in Night's Own grace
So that I may crush Your foes and ilk.
