The Sundering of the Ur'Guard by Karnagan

SUNDERING OF THE UR'GUARD

The People faced their greatest hour
Even as Celest fell
Their tents blossomed like flowers
Upon the greenest knell

The soldier stood in fullplate
A thousand orclach true
The hammers fell upon hot steel
Under the blood red moon

The men and women did prepare
To charge again to war
The youngling served within the camp
Their parents proud, once more.

As their elders forged, they dashed
Round the fires there,
And carried messages and swords
With wit beyond their years

Yet 'mong their mighty heroes
One stood with head raised high
The legend's named The Way, and
He hefted his axe and cried

"Oh, you fools, you fools,
You cannot flee the Way
My sword shall drink your blood, and
Your souls shall sleep this day"

The enemy camped down the field
Their ranks wavered but held
The Paladin's hands glowed brightly
As they joyfully yelled

For east of the Stone, back
when the fields were green
The Paladins had an ally
The Guard scarcely believed

Arrayed against their brethren
More orclach revealed
Wearing the colours of the Pool
To Ur'Guard they appealed

"We were wrong to worship Death
And evil Ladantine,"
And kept speaking this heresy
Until the Ur'Guard screamed

"Oh you fools, you fools.
You cannot flee our Way
Our swords shall drink your blood, and
Your souls shall sleep this day."

Battle of the Knights commenced
Their power harshly raged
The lands were scarred by power
of Death and Light that day

And in that newborn wasteland
All blades did plunge deep
Paladins, Guard- and children too
sent into final sleep

The dreams of the great people
were held within one blade
But even Night must depart
He too began to fade

He was set 'pon twelve to one
And fell beneath the blades
Howling, the Ur'Guard frenzied
And soon they won the day.

His lover found the Way broken
and wept under the boughs
She took his monstrous helm, and
Placed it upon her brow.

"Oh you fools, you fools.
Our people won the day.
But even as sleep consumed my race...

... there will always be the Way."

- In memory of the orclach who fell on those fields, east of the Megalith.
