Song Of Serenwilde by Laneth
Merit for November 2006
What follows is a short ditty often taught to Serenwilde youngsters in their
early years of schooling. The nursery rhyme, if you will, is designed to instil
in the children a sense of duty and pride toward each of the four guilds
(Moondancers, Serenguard, Hartstone and Spiritsingers respectively).
The song is often sung in two groups (male & female, high & low voices, etc) or
even more depending on the age and skill of the singers. On those public
occasions where performances are held for the whole of Serenwilde it is not
uncommon to use a full choir (soprano, alto, baritone, tenor, etc).
Song Of Serenwilde
Welcome to the ‘Wilde
Where trees and bushes thrive
Beasts and birds live in peace
And bees buzz about the hive
Furry little Furrikin
Time has come for boons
Cup your hands
Raise your eyes
And Drawdown Mother Moon
Welcome to the ‘Wilde
The home of Moon and Hart
We look to them for guidance
And have done since the start
Elegant little Elfen
Stand tall and proud
Sharpen steel
Fasten shield
And shout your warcry loud
Welcome to the ‘Wilde
Hear the Horn of Lord Charune
His Hunters are amongst us
And the Wild Hunt shall be soon
Flightly little Faeling
Raise your cudgel high
Call to the trees
Call to the beasts
And let the splinters fly
Welcome to the ‘Wilde
Protector of nature and fae
We guard them with our lives
And shall do so all or days
Agile little Aslaran
You will dance quite soon
Tighten strings
Prepare to sing
And perform the bardoon
Welcome to the ‘Wilde
Where trees and bushes thrive
Beasts and birds live in peace
And bees buzz about the hive
