The Last Forest by Lendren

Merit for January 2007

O dwellers of the First Forest, take heed!
The world was not always all trouble and woe.
O dwellers of the Last Forest, hold strength!
And again one day it may not be so.

By light of Moon and fae's bright blessings,
By gentle hands, Ellindel healing,
By harsh compassion, nature's learnings,
By Glinshari and Moonhart rising,

The First Forest, the Serenwilde, was born.
Then more Great Trees bring wisdom to the lands;
As lands are cleaned and nature is restored,
The influence of the Great Spirits expands.

But look you now at how the lands have festered,
Sickened with the Soulless offal poison,
Gashed and bleeding scars of city and highway,
Twisted wyrd, nature's tainted corruption.

Amongst the wracked and twisted pain of land's wounds,
There still remains one seed of life unaltered.
The First Forest our sacred charge to stand watch,
The Last Forest must first and most be sheltered.

When soil is ripe and days and nights agreeing,
We then can carry out our final purpose.
To carry life's seed to the cleansed lands blooming,
Again the First Forest fulfilling our promise.

O dwellers of the First Forest, take heed!
The world was not always all trouble and woe.
O dwellers of the Last Forest, hold strength!
And again one day it may not be so.
