Songs of the Wandering Bard by Moriana

Merit for October 2007

I. Walking Song

Though long and difficult is the way,
Still I wander the Basin practising my art,
I shall dazzle the world with my song one day.

In no worldly abode or shelter do I stay.
Instead I embrace the open road and a fresh start,
Though long and difficult is the way.

I seek a fabulous stage upon which I could play
The music that inflames the soul and melts the heart,
I shall dazzle the world with my song one day.

My travels take me from forest to city, from mountain to bay,
Seeking the inspiration that only experience can impart,
Though long and difficult is the way.

My voice must be heard, my talents put on display
For I am a performer and minstrel in every part
I shall dazzle the world with my song one day.

In time, my music and poetry shall hold utter sway
Over a great audience begging me never to depart.
Though long and difficult is the way
I shall dazzle the world with my song one day.

II. Lyric

Upon the stage or near the tavern fire
Or walking through the wild,
I softly sing and strum my lyre;
My hearers are beguiled.

It matters little where I go
Or who decides to heed;
My songs can cause their tears to flow,
Their true emotions freed.

I'll weave the tale of Keph's epic fight
To great applause and praise.
I'll star in masks and costumes bright
In famous dramas and plays.

Their hearts will melt to hear my song
Whatever their sex or age.
Their feelings shall to me belong
Once I command the stage.

III. Rondel

"I can take you to the stage of Glomdoring," said she.
I would have followed her wherever she chose to go
For the merest chance of someday putting on a show
And see a great audience waiting to hearken to me.
I'd make them weep with sorrow and dance with glee
As my music and poetry like water would flow.
"I can take you to the stage of Glomdoring," said she.
I would have followed her wherever she chose to go.

Over roads and under bridges, through ruins and debris,
Our trek was long; but worse trials I'd happily undergo
For they would be rewarded in the end, I know,
When I arrive on the stage, remembering her words gratefully:
"I can take you to the stage of Glomdoring," said she.
