Simultanaeity by Lendren

Runner Up for March 2008

Will you come and walk with me?
Silver forests beckoning.
Nestled between leaf and tree,
Is forgotten reckoning;
Sun and shadows shifting free,
Seasons in their slow turning,
Are revealed for all to see,
Unified and concurring.

Casting off the cloak of rest,
Cleanse away the mire of past.
Now we choose a bright new way;
Walking through the first new day.
Steal a kiss like it's your first,
Fresh and new and unrehearsed.
Breaking ice, freed flow within,
Life renewed to start again.
Spring is a time for beginnings.

Thunderstorms and gentle showers
Fill the air with lightning's power;
Land washed clean by storm's caress,
Familiar comforts, tenderness.
Promise-crammed the earth is full,
Unhurried blossoms, gentle lulls.
Become what you were before,
What you've always been, but more.
Summer the season of growing.

Staring down the dark to come,
Finding strength in what you've done.
Celebrate yesterday's grace,
Sheltered in a warm embrace.
Slaughter is the heavy price
Of tomorrow's sacrifice;
More than what you have and choose
Is what you stand prepared to lose.
Autumn a thought of readiness.

Gather near with friends and kin,
Silently turn thoughts within.
Once we ran and skipped and chased,
Now in patience calmly wait.
Storm's cold fury keen and shrewd,
To trap your foe, it might trap you.
Contemplating all that's died,
Face the ending satisfied.
Winter is made of conclusions.

Here in silver woods concealed,
Stand the seasons true revealed;
All at once, not one by one,
In the heart of everyone.
Simultaneous they stand
In Lisaera's silver lands,
So find them all within your soul,
It takes all four to make you whole.
