Raindrops by Shurimaru
Runner Up for April 2008
Raindrop falling past
A dream held within each one
Searching for my own
Raindrop falling past
A thousand would-be futures
Searching for my own
Thousands fall in time
A thousand futures, now lost
Mine, slipping away
Choices must be made
Journeys must all begin somewhere
Must take my first step
But where shall I go?
Celest or Magnagora?
What of the forests?
City life for me -
A life among stone and wood
Wrought by mortal hands
Then it comes to Guilds.
Warrior? Guardian? Monk?
Too many choices
It's magic for me
Elemental or Cosmic -
My choice isn't clear
Within New Celest:
Celestines, Celestia's priests
Devoted indeed
Aquamancers, yes
The cleansing pow'r of water
Refreshing and new
In Magnagora:
Nihilists, Nil's dark servants
Power to be had
Geomancers, Earth:
The twisted Tainted savants
Grasp Kethuru's touch
So what will it be?
Celestine? Or Nihilist?
Taint, or purity?
Some would say power -
I say that the choice is mine
Unmade, but still mine
My future is mine
My choice, also, is my own.
I have no regrets
I'll embrace the change
I'll channel the Earth's dry touch
Dust, soil, sand, mud, clay
Raindrops falling past
I've come to hate the Water
After all these years
