ALL IN DUE TIME: PART ONE

PART ONE:
~~~~~~~~~
I'd like to remember that day in Avechary as a rainy day. I think it fits the
mood of what happened that day. But no, just your wonderful sun-shiny day. One
of those days that makes you think it's gonna be a great day. And that's how it
started too.
Amek and I stood before the statue of a female lucidian that sits below where
Halifax would be. It had been a while since i last talked to him, so I asked
him to meet me there. The way the light that reflects off the emerald crystals
from the road seems to surround that statue. It is captivating...
"Well?" Amek said to me in his trademark booming voice.
"Well what?" I said to him, confused about what he was asking. I soon relized
he had awoken me from a daydream. "Oh Hallifax?"
"Yes, you ask me about it like you think it's going to come back sometime
soon." he remarked, smiling. The emerald lights made his crystal body emit the
same glow as the lucidian statue.
"Well it might, you never know! It's trapped in time, there's some way to bring
it back."
Right as I had finished my sentence, a ruby-colored dove flew in a circle
around me, as if it were trying to confirm who I was, and perched itself upon
my shoulder.
"Ah! Your mother's messenger dove. I forget how wealthy your family is
sometimes." He tried to pet the dove, but a rapid -chink- noise indicated that
he had failed.
"Now why do you say that? If I recall, I met you when your father was buying a
celestial pegasus as a congrats present for being knighted." I smirked towards
his direction as I took the dove into one of my hands, and untied the bow
around its leg holding a neatly folded parchment cloaked with a heavy perfume
that all mother's stationary includes. It flew out of the light grasp I had on
it and returned to its perch on my shoulder instead of flying away, having
completed its delivery.
"Hrm, I guess mother is expecting a response..." I scanned over it as I
normally do, before the heavy scent that came from the parchment gave me a
headache. But a couple of key words caused me to read the letter over again in
full. I think Amek managed to read my face as I nodded my head at the dove. It
circled around Amek and I one last time before it took to the skies once more.
"What's wrong, what is it she wants this time?" He walked over to me and held
me from behind.
"I need to go to the manse..." I muttered under my breath as I tried to move
away from him.
"Hrm, fine." he sighed with disappointment as he loosened the hold he had on
me, but turned me around to face him instead of letting me go. "One before you
run away again?" his gaze pierced my soul as he looked into my eyes.
I kissed him gently on the lips before flapping my way out of his embrace and
into the sky. "Wait!" he said yelling up at me, that booming voice of his
echoing throughout the area.
"Don't complain about how that wasn't long enough! I need to go!" I shouted at
him with a hint of irritation.
"How come you won't tell your family you love me?" he continued to yell into
the sky.
I swooped down and covered his mouth, my face an angry red as I stared into his
eyes, "They know I love you, damn it! They just want to keep the family pure
trill..." I trailed off as he removed my hand from his mouth, holding it
tightly in his.
"Yet my pure lucidian family approves of our union, if they were to be one..."
his booming voice made my heart beat faster. I could feel the anger in his
voice.
"You have other siblings that could keep the Uhrglas name going! I'm the only
one of my generation in the Ailevol, Amek!" I snatched my hand from his and
took to the sky once more.
"They found a mate for you, didn't they Kiersly? That's why you're in such a
rush to meet your mother at the manse!" He yelled into the sky. I could feel
his gaze upon me until I was no longer in his sight.
"How does he figure everything out?" I muttered to myself in anger. I did not
want what my mother wrote me to be true, but I needed to go and see for myself.
"Meh, at least it was a sunny day..." I remarked as I walked into the Aetherplex
and entered the grand room of the Ailevol Aethermanse.
The scent of perfume was heavy in the air as I entered the manse. "Well, at
least I know mother is here." I walked behind the spiraled staircase leading to
the rest of the manse, feeling against the wall for the door that lead to the
servant areas blended in with the motif that adorned the walls. Someone must of
heard me knocking around on the wall because the door opened right as I slid my
hand across it.Endael, the elfen manse dweller, peaked her head out from the
door. Her eyes widened as she squealed
"Oh! Lady Kiersly, welcome home!" Towels flew from the basket she was holding
as she dropped it and hugged me tightly. "Oh, it's been so long since you've
returned! Shall I go get a piece of the peach cake you adore so much?" she
asked, ever so willing to cater to my needs.
"Endael! Please, no need for the formalities." I laughed at her as I returned
the hug. She always smelled of chervil, it was nice that she had not changed at
all through the years. "How about fixing us both some cake and tea, and I'll
meet you in the kitchen after I'm done speaking with mother. Sound good?"
"Oh Lady Kier..I mean Kiersly. Your mother does not approve of you being down
there, you know that." Her gaze shot to the scar on my arm, then to the floor.
"It was an accident, we both know that," I said to her reassuringly as I placed
my hand on her shoulder. "And you should know the moment I listen to my mother
is the moment when all Nil breaks loose!" We both shared a laugh before she
picked up the basket of towels.
"I'll prepare the tea after I put these towels in the bathrooms." she sped off
to finish the task as I walked back around to the grand staircase and took a
deep breathe before climbing up them.
"Just get it over with, Kier. Just tell your mom you love Amek, it's not that
hard." I said in my head as a walked towards the study, preparing myself.
"Besides you never know, she might approve..."
It seemed as if the cloud of perfume that surrounded my mother got to me first
rather than the sound of her heels clicking against the ravenwood floor,
rapidly approaching
"KIERSLY, DAHLING! Come! Let me look at you!" I got lightheaded as the cloud of
perfume engulfed me as mother hugged me tightly. "I swear, a woman of your
nature does not need to be assisting in battle! I mean, my goodness, look at
your head feathers! I told your father you're not the hat type."
"Hi mother..." she continued to rant as I greeted her, which lasted for a few
minutes until I interrupted. "I'm here to talk about the letter you sent!"
"Oh dear, thanks goodness you reminded me! Come, come. We'll go to the study."
She took hold of my hand as she walked towards the study. Mother's eyes widened
as I snatched my hand from hers. "Kiersly Nesala Ailevol, how dare you."
"I can just tell you here!" I inhaled deeply, forgetting about the perfume that
still lingered in the air, which caused me to run into a coughing fit.
"K-Kiersly?" Mother rushed to my side as a fell to my knees. "Oh dear, you're
dying! Help! Someone hurry!"
My eyes started to fill with tears as the perfume burned my eyes. "Mother, I
don't wish to be-" I continued to cough, the perfume slowly choking me.
"Don't speak, dear! It will pass just like the other times!" She whipped out a
fan that was engulfed in the same perfume and started to fan me with it. I
snatched it from her hand and threw it as far away from me as I could.
"Damn perfume..." I murmured as my vision turned to black.
I awoke in a bedroom filled with items of various blues. As I inhaled, I
started in a coughing fit again, getting the remainder of the perfume out of my
lungs. Normally, there's a table by every bed set to have a pitcher of water. As
I slammed my hand down on where I thought the table should be, the force causing
me fall to the ground face first. I groaned as I turned my head to see the table
with the water was set all the way on the other side of the room.
I heard the door open, footsteps coming towards me as a man's voice asked "Are
you okay?" My vision was slightly blured, preventing me from identifing his
face. Whomever this was had to of been strong, to lift me up with all of my
armour still on. As he layed me on the bed, I relized I had been changed into a
nightgown.
"Hrm, it seems that fall made you sorta flushed." the man said as he put me
back under the covers. I will just let him believe that my blushing was from
the accident and not from embarrassment.
I watched him walk across the room to the table with the water on it, and
poured a glass of water for the both of us. As my vision started to clear, I
noticed the male helping me had pristine white wings.
"Oh good! For a second I just thought you were a white blur." I chuckled as he
returned to my bedside and handed me some water.
"Hrm, is your sight still a bit blurred?" he remarked as he examined my eyes.
"Well, they are still a bit red from the perfume. To be honest, I've never met
a woman that actually bathes in perfume, then manages to spritz on touch ups
the moment she smells clean air."
"That's why she wears so much, all she smells is the damn perfume." I chugged
down the glass of water and handed it back to him.
"Another I presume?" he asked as he looked at me, and then the glass, with a
look of disapproval.
I guess I did chug it down pretty fast.
"I'm sorry, it's just nice to have water again instead of a funnel of perfume."
I watched him walk away, but I couldn't help but think I had met him before.
"Here's another glass," He handed it to me with less care than before. "I'll go
make a cold, damp towel for your eyes." Right as he had turned to leave, I
noticed the Herberge Family Crest embroidered on his cloak.
"Herberge... Isn't that the family name of the healer family?" I saw him stop
dead in his tracks after I said that. "My mother must of hired you as an
resident doctor, then." I closed my eyes after I said that, and took a long
drink from the glass.
"Heh, no. You're lucky I'm still here. My family was just speaking with Madame
Ailevol." I heard his footsteps walk towards the door again. "Something about
arranging a marriage for me."
I choked on my water as I heard him utter those words. I could not believe the
guy my mother picked was so... handsome
